A single gunshot. A silent thud signifying that the bullet had found its mark. As always.
A figure steps out from the dark shadows cast by the moonlight, silently making its way to the still body. Examining the surroundings once, it bends down and snatches a wallet from inside the dead man's pocket and pulls out an ID card. 'Matt Avery', it reads. But the name does not seem to be important as the figure continues to scrutinize the card. Finally, a thumb runs over the top right corner of the card, lightly brushing the onyx black stamp once, before flinging it away.
Sighing deeply, it steps over the body and looks behind one last time. The moonlight catches the bright blue eyes and highlights the eerie emptiness in it as it stares down. A flash of guilt passes through, as quick as lightning, before the killer turns and walks away, disappearing into the night.
