Hello my lovely fans,
I am going to try out a new story, but I am only going to give you a little excerpt of it. I want you to tell me what you think of it and if I should continue on with it.
For you Hate or Love readers, don't worry. I didn't give up on that story. I am still going to continue with it because it was my first story on this website and maybe it will be my first story finished.
Thank you for all your support. I know I haven't been on lately but I am hoping to be on a lot more.
Please tell me what you think, ideas, what I should change. I always want to make my story better.
Okay enough of me talking. Here it is.
BTW: This excerpt is half edited so I am sorry if there are mistakes.
Okay I'll shut up now.
“Amen!” The church chants after the final prayer. People begin to scatter out of the church into the warm, Sunday weather. My family and I scramble over to the gathering area to see Father Tom to say hello.
“Ah, Christian. It’s great to see you and your family again. Are you coming next Sunday to help with the Confirmation class?” Father Tom asked with a glow of happiness on his face.
“I wouldn’t miss it.” I said, mirroring that glow. I’m excited to see the pre-teen kids.
My mother starts a conversation with Father Tom when I see my friend, Angelia, coming towards me.
“Hey! Long time, no see.” She says when she reaches me with a hint of laughter in her voice.
Angelia and I have been best friends since we were in the fourth grade. The other kids in our class were bullying her because she was kind of different, but I was there for her when she needed a friend. Even though it is a sin, her parents got a divorce when she was eight. During that hard time, she ran away and stayed with my family until she was ready to go back home.
“What did you think of the mass?” She asked me, taking me away from my thoughts.
“I thought it was very moving. It made me think that I should become an even better person than I am now.” I said with passion like I am being interview for an important job. After high school, I want to go to Covenant College to become a preacher.
Everyone is mostly gone, except for a few people here and there. I spot my parents in the corner, waiting for me.
“Oh! I have to go. I forgot that we are helping out in the soup kitchen today.” I told Angelia, suddenly in a rush.
“Okay. I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” She replied, biding ourselves goodbye.
I walk towards my parents and without a word; we made our way to the car. My parents may look nice and innocent in front of other people, but behind closed doors, they are really strict. They have high expectations for me and they love to brag about it to their friends. It’s not that I don’t mind, but there are times where I think about my life if they weren’t so strict.
“Christian, you know we don’t like to wait. Don’t make us wait again, understood?” My father directly told me once we were all in the car.
“Yes.” I simply said.
“What was that?” Anger rising in my father’s voice.
“Yes sir.” I said more firmly.
With that over with, we head north towards our next destination.
Once we get in front of the Lord’s Supper Soup Kitchen building, Mrs. Walker hurries out to greet us.
“Oh my! It’s great to see you all again. It’s been awhile. I’m glad you are here. We got a lot of people in there who need to be fed.” She said with joy. I have never seen her frown before.
Mrs. Walker is at least fifty years old and has been working with Lord’s Supper for a very long time. She is happily married with two boys.
“Well, we’ve been helping out the folks in the nursing home lately. They need help too, ya know.” My mother mutters when she reaches Mrs. Walker.
My parents started small talk with Mrs. Walker so I step inside to get started. My job is to pass out the dessert, and go around to see if everyone has enough to eat.
I start to get the dessert ready, since everyone is just getting the main course. When my parents walk in through the back door, they look towards me giving me a nod and beginning their job; the simple routine.
With the desserts on plates, I go out to see if anyone would like to have a second helping. While I’m searching, I see that they have already started their second meal. Everyone looks so happy to be here and with new friends. They are just more than friends though; they are a family. It seems like that when they come here, they forget about their situation and can just truly enjoy themselves. That’s what I love to see and it makes me happy to see these families happy.
I face towards the entrance and see a middle-age couple whom I have never seen before. Being the polite person I am, I head over to greet them.
“Welcome to the Lord’s Supper Soup Kitchen. My name is Christian and what can I help you with?”
It seemed that I startled them because they jumped like they had seen a ghost in front of their eyes.
“Ah… um… yes. We are new here and wanted to see how this works, but right now we just need some bread and soup,” the woman said, nervousness deep in her voice.
Putting it off since it is their first time here, I go back to the kitchen to gather the supplies they requested. When I return to the couple, they grab the food out of my hands and ran out the door.
I just stand there dumbfounded. Well that was weird.
Okay. Please tell me what you think. I really want your feedback and thank you for taking your time to read this. If you like this, I can edit it a little more and make it longer. Along with posting it on here regularly.
Thanks so much.
With Love <3
