Game Over

Over the next couple of days my relationship with Samantha grew stronger, and I would often sneak out to visit her secretly, using the ‘hanging out with my friends’ excuse. Every single one of my encounters with Samantha was breathtaking. I had made love to other girls before, but Samantha brought out a whole new side of me.

A side I never even knew existed!

I was aware of the fact, that what I was doing was wrong (I mean, she was dating my brother for christ’ sake! My own flesh and blood). But how could something so wrong, feel so right? Naturally the relationship wasn’t an easy one to maintain. Trying to hide a secret of this magnitude, could only be called a ticking time bomb, and at one point, I was almost positive that our time together had ran out . . .

It happened on my father’s birthday.  He had just turned forty six and naturally my family organized a party, and invited the entire neighborhood—okay maybe not the entire neighborhood, but it definitely felt like it—. For the first time I was actually happy that Samantha was still dating my brother, I could at least be certain that he would invite her because of that fact. She had probably figured out the hidden benefits long before I did, and I admired the way she was able to weave her intricate strategies. Sure enough, Samantha arrived later that evening wearing a beautiful blue dress that would actually look way too over the top on any other girl I knew. But Samantha pulled it off gracefully. The dress showed off her slender waistline and at the sight of her my heart started to beat so hard, I was afraid that it would tear right out of my chest, leaving behind a gaping hole, only her love, could possibly hope to fill. There was no denying it. I belonged to Samantha in both body and soul. When she saw me she gave me a faint smile, and I smiled back not really caring about the other guests around us. For a second it felt like we were the only people in the room, and I just wanted to hold her in my arms right then and there and confess my love for her to the entire world. The moment didn’t last long as I was awakened from my fantasies by the sound of my brother’s voice.

“Welcome babe.”

He kissed Samantha right in front of me, and I couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy at that moment. It was painful and tiring having to share Samantha with him, and at times I wished, that out of the two of us, I was the one that had received her love first.

“Hi Trent,” Samantha said cheerfully, before she kissed him back.

I was amazed by Samantha’s acting skills. She made it clear to me, that dating my brother was only a cover so that we could continue our forbidden relationship for as long as possible. But whenever I saw her  playing along so happily with my brother, I couldn’t help but wonder which moments were really part of the act and which weren’t.

“Of course it was all a deception, nothing more then a masterful scheme,” I reminded myself. There’s no way she would ever take him back after everything he did, and there’s no way she would ever lie to me. I shook off the idea, and left Samantha in my brother’s company as I went to greet more geusts. I returned upstairs afterwards, and started walking toward my room. I was pulled aside suddenly, and stepped into a dark room. I was just about to struggle when her familiar voice cut through the silence.

“Calm down Zack, it’s just me.”

The lights went on suddenly and I saw her moving in front of me, smiling. “Samantha,” I panted, heaving a sigh of relief. “I’m Sorry, you just surprised me that’s all.”
