Max' P.O.V.

For the past week I've visited Kate every day. I've received multiple texts from her family to exclaim their gratitude towards me, they seem to have become very protective over Kate now, and they seem to understand the kind of help and support Kate needs. Kate herself has started drawing children's books again, with bright colors and happy figures. Right now she's working on a book about bullying. I believe it will help her process the recent tragedies that happened to her. The drawings also seem to make her more hopeful for the future.
When I'm not with her she texts me about how she misses me, and how she thinks of me. I do the same in return. We're basically in constant conversation. It has gotten to the point where we just don't say bye anymore, because our conversations never actually end. Somehow she views me as her angel. But little does she know she's also mine.

God I feel happy when I'm around her.

I abusaly bump into Victoria in the hallway. She spills all of her coffee over her newly bought cashmere vest (Her first one was ruined by paint, hehe.) and lets out a surprised screech.

"Oh my god, Victoria, I'm so sorry! My thoughts were totally elsewhere!" I try to wipe off the coffee of her cashmere vest. She looks absolutely devastated and her skin tone went two tones lighter in less than 10 seconds. I look at her face and take a step backward. Oh god, she's going to explode.

"Kate! This is your fault!" I think to myself. "You just don't leave my head, do you?"

Victoria takes an intimidating step forward and stares me straight in the eyes. Her eyes spit hellfire, then, instead of yelling or even punching me in the face she averted her eyes from mine, and looked at the ground. One arm holding the other, she said : "Well, Max, don't worry about this vest. I understand your thoughts are with Kate." She looked up, tried to smile, (I could almost see her teeth, which is really good for her.) and she winked. "Good luck with that, by the way." she said with a faint voice, and she was gone, leaving me alone, confused in the hallway.

"Well," i whisper to myself. "That was hella weird."

I step over the puddle of coffee that settled on the floor and continue my quest to Mr. Jefferson's class.
Mr. Jefferson is my all-time favorite teacher in this school, but I just couldn't keep my head in my books . My thoughts were floating way above, high above the clouds. I wonder what Kate's doing right now. Maybe she's lonely. I should send her a quick text to make sure she's alright.
I try to sneak my phone out of my pocket, and very stealthily succeed in doing so, and I started typing under my desk, while making a very concentrated face, so it looks like I was reading in my book.

"Hey Marshmallow, I miss you. Are you alright? Want me to come over after my lessons, we can drink some tea?"

When I try to hit the send button, my clumsiness takes over again, and I drop my phone on the ground, I try to grab it with my foot but Mr. Jefferson got there first. He picked up the phone, and read the message on the screen.

"I don't like people who text in my class, Max. I thought you were above that. I'm confiscating your phone 'till the end of this hour. I'd like a word with you afterwards."

He stares me dead in the eye for one second, and then continues teaching in his familiar teacher-voice.

I got snapped out of my daydream by the bell signal. "Thank god, it's over!" I think to myself. I really need to get my phone back. Who knows what Kate has sent me.

I stay seated until everyone leaves, then I get up to confront Mr. Jefferson.

"I'm sorry I texted during your class, Mr Jefferson." I say, kind of nervously. "You know, I just wanted to check up on Kate, to see how she's doing, you know I –"
"Quit the blabbering, Miss Caulfield." He interrupts me rudely. "We all appreciate what you've done for Kate and unknowingly for this school, but don't you see people are beginning to notice what you're doing?"

"Wha-" I try to ask what he meant, but doesn't let me speak a word.

"She's not a lesbian, Max. Stop taking advantage of her situation!" His head is red and puffy, he seems really angry, I have no idea why though.

"Jesus Mr Jefferson!" I yell, angry by that false and disgusting accusation. "I am NOT using Kate! I'm the only one who tried to help her."

"Yet students have come to me with concerning stories around the way you and Kate are acting."

Maybe you've forgotten you're the one who pushed her all the way to jump, who made her cry? It wasn't me, I know that. You drove her to the edge!" I point an accusing and trembling finger towards his face.

He looks baffled. "Have it your way, miss Caulfield." He squints his eyes, pretty threatening, but it doesn't intimidate me one bit. He hands me my phone and I bolt out the door, to Kate. I need to tell someone what the hell just happened.

After I bolted all the way to the parking lot I suddenly stand still, and get a very clear image in my head. Victoria wishing me good luck. With Kate.

"God, that dimwit!" I clench my fists. My nails bury themselves in my hand, and I grind my teeth in anger. Kate will have to wait for a while. I turn around and head towards the dormitory.
