“I love you Skylar,” He whispers, so softly that she didn’t hear him.
“Thanks for taking me out Ryder; no one has ever done this for me before.” Skylar says, oblivious to the fact that he just confessed his love for her. She looks out at the water and grips the rails tightly. She gazed at the tinges of pink and purple in the sky and let out a content sigh. Ryder encircles his arms around her waist and holds her tightly. He presses his chest to her back and rests his chin on her shoulder.
“Well a beautiful girl like you deserves to be treated like a princess.” Skylar’s cheek turns slightly pink at his comment and swats at his chest playfully. Ryder grabs her wrist before it comes in contact with his chest. Casually, he envelopes his hand within hers and smiles warmly down at her.
“I should probably take you home,” Ryder sighs and Skylar nods her head in agreement. He grasps Skylar’s hand as they both begin walking towards Ryder’s car. He opens the door for her, like the gentleman he is, and waits until she is properly seated before closing the door. Quickly, he gets into the driver’s seat and pulls out of the parking lot.

“Be honest with me-did you have fun?” Ryder asks as he stands on Skylar’s porch.
“Honestly? I loved it! You're a really sweet guy Ryder and I am lucky to have won your attention.” Skylar breathes out her face slightly flushed.
“You don’t know how relieved I am to hear that,” Skylar laughs at his confession and gazes at their intertwined hands.
“I love you Skylar.” Skylar looks up shocked at Ryder’s statement and sees him looking at their hands as well.
“W-what?”
“I love you-I really do. I know we’ve only gone out on a couple unofficial dates, but Sky-we’ve been friends long before that and I truly know that I love you.”
“Ryder, do you really love me?” Skylar asks, her brown eyes staring at Ryder’s head.
His head snaps towards her and looks at her curiously, “Did you not hear my confession? I really do love you Sky!”
“Tell me this tomorrow. Tell me you love me tomorrow and I’ll believe you. If you can tell me you love me tomorrow night, I’ll say it back to you.” Skylar declares.
“Why?”
“Just do it. Prove your love for me by taking me out tomorrow and telling me you love me tomorrow. You do this and I’ll say it.” Before giving Ryder a moment to process those words, Skylar leans over and gently brushes her lips against Ryder’s smooth cheek. Ryder nods at Skylar’s strange request. “Okay then, tomorrow will you go the movies with me?”
“I’d love to.” Skylar agrees and Ryder gives her a lopsided smile that made her heart speed up.
“I’ll pick you up at 6:30 tomorrow.”
“Good night, Ryder.” She whispers.
“Night Sky.” He replies, still in daze from the peck. She opens the door and gives Ryder a final look before closing it. She chats with her parents for a few minutes before hurrying upstairs to change. Sighing, she sat down on her bed and opened her REMINDERS notebook. Skylar read the entry she had written the previous night before writing another entry. Once she was done describing her day she set the notebook on her bedside table. Quietly, she shuffled over to her bookshelf where her hourglass rested on the top shelf. The sand was thinning out, but she waited until the clock read 10:34 before flipping the hourglass over. She had 24 more hours before her mind emptied out once more.
