Another chance?

Grell looked down at me fondly, with an almost sisterly smile. Hurriedly I lifted my head off her shoulder and wiped away the steady flow of tears making their way down my face. Grell cleared her throat and began to speak.
"So I see you found the clothes then, now that you're finally out of those other....things  we can head off to your first job. I have the list right here!~"
I bit my lip a little.
"Actually Grell, I have a question..."
She tilted his head inquisitively.
"What is it?"
"Well I just....I was wondering....why do I suddenly look like this? I mean. It's not that I don't like it but...well. I just don't look like myself. I look like somebody else, everything seems too perfect..."
I let my voice taper off.

"Well Red....uh...that's usually what happens when people become Shinigami. Their appearances need to change to make it seem as if they're being given a new life. A life to live as a God of death. But in a way it's also a punishment. Features people cherish most get completely changed or altered. For example....you...you really liked everything about how you looked didn't you? That's why your whole has appearance changed. But me? When I was.....alive, I hated everything about me, that's why, I've hardly changed at all."

I blinked hard. Death is a lot crueler than I had originally thought.
"So you're saying....I look this way because I was happy about how I looked before?! But that's not fair!"
Grell smiled bitterly at me.
"Life's unfair....and so is death. But....you can change into your original form for short periods of time, or if you're doing an important job and need to stay hidden..."

My eyes widened slightly.
"How Grell??!!! How can I do that?!"
"Just think of everything you loved about how you looked previously, the stronger you feel about how you looked, the longer you'll stay that way~"
I stand up abruptly, startling her.
"Red, what're you doing!?"
I gritted my teeth and closed my eyes tightly. This was another chance for me to get closer to how I was!

"Giving it a try!"

"Red! That's not a good idea! After just waking up, your body is still settling into its Shinigami form, if you try change into your previous form to soon you could!-"

The rest of his sentence was lost as a piercing noise began ringing in my ears.

Oh hey, look who it is! It is me, the author who is terrible at updating and is super sorry about the hiatus! This is just a little bit of a filler chapter, as I'm planning to do some more writing(hopefully) tomorrow. This story is going to progress soon. I just gotta write some ideas down.
