All three of them took a small needle-like shuttle to the small moon civilization. Koban was worried about bringing Seira with, but Cuhu assured him everything was fine. He said he would never let anything bad happen to her. "Over my dead body." Cuhu said.
"Could this be a trap?" Koban worried.
"It most likely is, with knowledge of you guardians showing up people will want you dead. People that have been paid." Cuhu answered.
"Like who? What are we up against?"
"Probably some Abominations, those invaders created them, you know? Oh, I guess you wouldn't...Anyways if you want to know what these conquerors look like, just get a good look at an Abomination. You'll know them when you see them, trust me." Cuhu looked out the window,"This is much faster than my old bucket of bolts, we should arrive in a few minutes."
The shuttle docked at port five minutes later, just as Cuhu had predicted. Nothing was out of place, everyone was celebrating actually. There was a giant festival, with bushels of crowds, and lanterns hanging across the town. A few drunks were stumbling around, bumping into people and giggling. "You stay here with Seira, Cuhu. I'll be back soon."
Cuhu nodded,"Don't have too much fun without me!" He shouted over the noise of the music as Koban sauntered away.
Everyone was happy and calm, swaying to the music and indulging in conversations. Koban walked about for a few minutes, deeper into town and the celebrations. Here nobody judged him, nobody moved away from him, no one was uncomfortable around him. He actually felt quite claustrophobic. There was a flash of black hair, and an absolutely gorgeous girl stumbled into him, giggling uncontrollably, she spilled her drink all over his shirt. He wasn't really bothered, he need new clothes anyway.
"Oops." She giggled, gesturing to the spill,"Here let me get that."
Koban never saw it coming. There was a sharp pain in the side of his stomach, and he gasped. Orange blood spilled to the pavement and he collapsed. The girl flung her cup on to the street, it was empty. She stepped over Koban, people saw the spectacle and started screaming, running every which way like a startled herd. The girl's face was emotionless, unlike it had been a second ago.
"Sun God, prepare for your death." She said in a monotonous voice.
Koban tried desperately to crawl away, the girl just stood there, staring. Her clothes were all black, her shirt was cropped, Koban could make out a black mark above her collar bone. She was short but muscular and toned. Despite looking light-weight, Koban knew the clothes were armored. Koban slapped his hand down in front of him, trying to move past the pain. The girl strolled over to him and brought her foot down hard on top of his hand. Koban screamed, there was blood in his mouth.
It hurt, it hurt so much, for a moment Koban thought there were tears in his eyes. Then there was a burning in his chest, and he yelled. He stood up, angry now, and glared the girl dead in the eyes. They were so dark, like a vortex, that seemed to suck everything in and never let anything out. She didn't lunge at him, she just stood there, trying to guess his next move. How was she so calm? Cuhu told him that he was merciful, that he saved even the darkest of souls. But that was the old him. Koban charged at the girl and she took off at an incredible speed, she was nothing but a jet of black.
Koban limped after her, then he turned it into a sprint. The pain wasn't there anymore, the wound had already healed. His sword was strapped to his back still, she had never disarmed him. It was like she wanted a challenge, something to fight. There was a chasm in the middle of the town, to get over it a large bridge had been built over it. People walked past him slowly, he then drew his sword. Civilians saw this and jogged off the bridge, glancing frantically around for any threat other than him.
There was a clacking of boots, and the black-haired girl stepped on to the bridge. She was at the far end, opposite Koban. No, this was that thing Cuhu had told him about, an Abomination.
"Before I fight you I would like to know your name." Koban offered.
The girl still stepped forward, staring straight at him with those eyes of her's. She then opened her mouth and spoke,"AV1143."
"That's not a name." Koban responded, raising his sword in front of him.
"People call me the Silent Killer, too. Is that a name?" She asked, still talking in that empty voice of hers.
"The other one was better." Koban was going up against an assassin, he was just reborn yesterday. He moved, one foot in front of the other, and then swung.
