True Friends Lie Underneath

Really Serenity

I wake up to my brother bursting into my room.

"Get up slut, it's fun time." He says smirking. In instantly burst out in tears and say no repeatedly.

I know what's coming. He's gonna violate me again. I can't take any of this shit anymore.

As I'm crying I take the razor's off my table by my bed and cut his face and hands as he tries to grab me.

I take some clothes out of my closet and run to the bathroom. I change, grab my backpack that's in there and phone then climb out the window. You'd be amazed on how many times I've had to do that.

I run to school, and find my best friend Serenity.

"Hey Arizona, woah calm down. What's wrong?" She asks once I get to her.

"I-it happened again today." I say quietly.

"That's it, tonight your staying at my place. My mom won't mind she loves you." Serenity says seriously.

"And what about Joey?" I ask. Joey is her mom's boyfriend. He drinks, and just stopped drugs.

"I don't care I can't let you stay in that house anymore." She says hugging me. I smile and hug back. At that moment I feel my phone vibrate but I ignore it because I have class.

Serenity and I walk to class and go about our day. We had a sub so I took that opportunity to check my phone.

It was a text from an unknown number. I check and it says.

?: Hey baby girl, it's been a while. I thought I'd text you and see how your doing. I just want you to know I love you and think about you everyday.
-Love mom

It was my mom. I've missed her so much.

A: Mom hi, I've missed you so much. I'm so happy you reached out to me.

After I texted her back I get Serenity's attention.

"What's up?" She whispered. I show her my phone.

"My mom texted me." I say smiling. I was about to cry. I haven't talked to her in years.

"Oh my gosh, Ari that's amazing." She says hugging me. We are still sitting in class and we are in the back so the sub didn't see us.

"Bathroom?" I ask. She nods. We go to the bathroom when we want to get out of class and talk.

I got up and asked the sub if I could go. Let me tell you it's a boy for our sub so what Serenity is gonna say will be a very awkward but funny conversation.

Well I asked for the hall pass and waited about 7 minutes until Serenity came out of class. From outside heard everything. The conversation went something like this.

$erenity: excuse me can I have the hall pass?

Sub: sorry your gonna have to wait someone just took it.

$erenity: no you don't understand. I'm having lady issues.

Sub: it can wait.

$erenity: no it can't I'm on my period and I'm having really bad cramps and it's really bloody.

Sub: oh please stop, yes yes you can go.

Then she smiles and walks out of the room. I was laughing so hard in the hall.
