Chapter 21 ~ Morals

When we arrived the Academy, I was finally bombarded with questions as the four of us sat on the  sofa in our room.

"Are you okay, Blaire?" Charlotte asked, holding my hand. "After the ceremony you just disappeared."

Harry nodded, "We were really worried. Is everything okay?" He asked, concern written across his features.

I gave them a half-hearted smile, "I'm fine. I just needed to speak with my uncle, and the Lady." I informed, mentally deciding that they needed to know what I discovered.

They gasped, Jason widened his eyes as he snapped his head to me from the arm of the chair. "You mean the lady?" He asked, emphasizing the for clarification.

I nodded, "My uncle told me the truth of my family heritage." I started, as I began to explain everything that happened.

Although I promised not to tell anyone yet, I knew I had to tell the three. They were all I had, and close to me as a family should be. I couldn't keep it from them, knowing that I had no one else to talk to about these discoveries. Not even my father could have been present to explain everything, while understanding my worries.

Instead I had my uncle, whom dully informed me of my mother as if it didn't even matter. Although I knew deep down, he was worrying. I was to be the Empress, and I wasn't even a complete shapeshifter.

After all, yesterday I had thought I was like any other hybrid, like a large portion of shifters were. But never had I thought of a witch and shifter having a child, it was just un-heard of. Shifters would only have a child with either someone of their own kind or a human, since neither would worsen your abilities. But my mother was a witch, unlike my father's stories of my human birth mother.

Who even knew whether or not I would be able to shift?

After finishing my brief explanation of what happened that afternoon, they all practically fell out of their seats. Jason was staring wide-eyed, Harry's mouth was ajar and Charlotte looked disappointed; which broke my heart a little.

Jason was first to speak, "That's awesome!" He grinned, high-fiving my rested hand. To which I raised my eyebrow to, rolling my eyes.

"I'm so jealous! You're a shapeshifter and a freaking witch?" Harry shook his head, looking baffled. "Why can't be that bad-ass?" He pouted, earning a grin towards his direction from me. I loved how they tried to raise my spirits on the situation, like true friends.

Charlotte blinked a few times, with the same expression struck on her face. "How didn't I know?" She suddenly exclaimed, resting her head in her palms. "I've known you all my life, and I didn't figure it out. I feel so stupid." She pouted, snapping her head up.

I raised my eyebrow again, not sure whether her words were positive or not.

Charlotte hugged me, a smile spread on her face. "I'm sorry about my reactions, but I'm just a little freaked out that I didn't know this whole time. I mean, it's me." She said, with mock narcissism. "I know everything."

I laughed at that, as they all hugged me on the sofa. "Thanks guys, you really know how to make a girl feel better." When we parted, I let out a sigh. "But what am I going to do? How am I supposed to rule over the shifters when I'm not even a shifter?" I muttered, my worries finally suffocating me once more.

Jason shook his head, "But you are a shifter. Just because you're not one completely, doesn't make it any different." He encouraged, grinning once more.
