Before you read the book I was thinking of changing the cover to the one above. Just comment on wether I should or shouldn't.

We pulled up in front of Em's cosy home as we got out the van. I picked Richard up and held him to my waist since he claimed he was tired. Em led the way pulling her mini suitcase behind her while squeezing her jingling keys. When she opened the door her dad was sitting at the dining table listening to the radio. He looked up and smiled at us probably glad to have some company. Em's dad was a nice, quaint man who never really complained about anything. He had a short curly beard, wore glasses and normally; sweater-vest combos or jumpers on a cold day. He started working as a physics teacher at our school ever since Em's mum passed away.
'Emily. I'm so glad your safe. It's nice to see that your friends are as well' he spoke giving Em a hug and shaking my mums hand.
'It's nice to see you too Harry. How have you been lately' asked mum giving him a smile.
'As good as I can be. Have you heard the news lately? Come in before you get cold' he replied inviting us in. We went over to the couch and sat down, Pepper and Em's dad still standing.
'Yes we have.' mum answered looking at her knees. She tucked a few strands of brown hair behind her ear.
'We wanted to offer you a place at our house. In one of the guest rooms.' I chimed setting my brother beside me and looking up.
'Oh really well, I'm not sure we could take such a kind offer. Emily what do you think?' he responded.
'I think it's a great idea papa. April lives the furthest from the woods so it would be safer there rather than here' Em spoke getting up and taking her dad's hands in hers. 'Plus we are a bit lonely down here' she added.
'Okay we'll go. Thank you very, very much for the offer we really appreciate it.' he thanked looking over to my mum.
'It's the least we could do'.
'Emily could you please take your friends upstairs to pack whilst I talk to April's mum' he stated.
I was curious and a little worried to find out what Henry had to talk to my mum about privately, so I sat at the top of the stairs listening closely. I wasn't going to listen to the whole thing just whatever I could hear.
'Have you been listening to the radio at all since it started?' asked Em's dad.
'No not recently. Has something else happened?' mum replied her voice growing worried.
'Well you may want to sit down for this.'
'Okay go on'.
'They're thinking of containing us' he said in a hushed voice. I clasped a sweaty hand over my mouth so that I didn't make any noise.
'Contai- containing us w- what does that mean?' mum stammered.
'By helicopter they are going to lower down a bullet-proof glass dome over the town. It will have the newest technology on it. Hence it won't exactly look like a dome.' he explained.
'Look like a d- look like a dome so they're going to camouflage it? What about people on the outside of the town?' mum quaked.
'Well we are a fair bit into the countryside so...'.
'It's like we'll dissappear right off the map'.
I couldn't listen any longer as mum burst into tears probably worried for our generation. I crept into Em's room, quietly shutting the door behind me.
'Hey April that was a pretty long toilet break. You okay?' Pepper joked.
'They're gonna get a dome'
'What? What did you say?' Em asked stepping closer to me.
'They're gonna put a dome on the town. Like animals they're lock us up until eventually we all die out!' I cried.
'What!? No no that's crazy they can't do that. We have rights they can't do that!' Pepper demanded pacing around the room. 'Can they?'.
'No they can't trap us. We're not bears or wild animals!' Em whined kneeling on the floor.
'But we're sitting ducks' I whispered.
'This is no time for jokes April' Pepper snapped still pacing.
'No as in we can't go anywhere so we'll just be sitting around until the air comes our way. Plus if anything the dome is rational. If you were in charge of this then what would you do? You've got a countryside town with a population of about 270-300. They've gone and released a poisonous gas into the atmosphere. Now before it reaches the rest of the world you have to contain it. So you put an air tight lid on it to keep it away.' I explained breathing heavily.
'I guess your right but that only gives us an excuse to move faster. We need to momentarily skip my house and head to the Pharmacy.' Pepper commanded folding clothes and putting them in a suitcase.
'Why the Pharmacy?' Em asked zipping up her suitcase. She grabbed a backpack and filled it with pictures of her parents and books.
'Because we need to get some gas masks and if we don't want a replay of B&Q then we should nove fast'. She replied pulling the biggest suitcase out of Em's room. 'April go tell Em's dad that he needs to pack and that we urgently need to leave.'
'Okay'. I ran down the stairs and saw that mum had stopped crying and was now sipping a cup of tea. 'We need to go, now. I'm sorry for rushing you but we need to be leaving ASAP'. I insisted as my friends and brother came down the stairs.
'Oh okay just give me two minutes' Em's dad said going around us and jogging upstairs.
'April I have some bad news- it's okay mum I already know' I calmly interupted.
'Oh okay then. I'm just gonna clean my mug then put it in the cupboard. Is that alright Emily?'
'Yeah, yeah of course' Em replied.
We waited for a couple minutes then Em's dad came down with his brown suitcase. 'Okay I'm ready and it looks like you are too. Who's car are we taking?' he asked looking around for mum.
'Ours it has more space for the suitcases' mum replied coming out the kitchen.
