Madison was new on the set. She'd arrived the week before, a replacement for two of the regular crew. They'd both gotten injured to the point they had to stop working. So things had been a little hectic and things shifted around.
But she found herself alone... again. Assigned to take the smallest of the cameras for the day's taping. Small but it also had its own sound so she didn't need another crew member to help. And since she was replacing two crew members, that was probably a good thing.
Yesterday she had watched Birdy and Matt set up the green house. It had been a long day, but funny. She enjoyed watching Matt's antics. She didn't always get them on tape, and sometimes the camera was shaking too bad. But maybe she'd get used to things. Used to him.
But if she were being honest with herself... she didn't know how she'd get used to him. His mop of curls, his gravelly voice. He always had a smile for her, when the camera wasn't up to her face, that is.
Maddy bit her lip as she walked, she chuckled. She could not deny she found Matt attractive. She sighed.
Stopping, she looked out, the greenhouse wasn't too far away. It was almost complete, at least according to Carrie, her boss. Who apparently had heard from Matt himself that he'd be working on it again this morning.
She heard Matt's distinctive chuckle. "Hey Maddy!" he called and laughed again.
Chuckling herself, she jogged to where he was partially hidden behind a corner of the greenhouse. "You working with me again today?" he asked and smiled.
"I am," she said. "What are you doing today?"
"Making an irrigation system," he said. "With hoses and straws!" His eyes got wide as he held up the fist full of multicolored straws. He chuckled again.
"Straws?" she asked and chuckled along with him.
"Well, you know," he said and shrugged. "Gotta be bush."
"Oh, of course," she said and nodded. "Well... get to it, I guess."
Matt bit his lip and nodded. "Yeah," he said softly.
Matt thought there was a few other things he'd rather 'get to' than making this irrigation system. He eyed Maddy up and down while she fiddled with the camera, head down, not looking at him. He moaned softly and closed his eyes.
Okay, so maybe they weren't a perfect match. She was from the city. She was also just a little taller than him. The height thing was a little hard to notice in the bush with the uneven terrain, but he'd noticed. Oh, he'd noticed. Her mouth, her perfect lips were just at his eye level when they were standing level. But when they were on uneven land...
He tried never to stand lower than her, it made him feel like a child. But she only giggled and turned a little red when he shifted spots with her. Sure he manhandled her a little and spoke a little more gravelly when he did it. But she wasn't complaining.
