You said you didn't care. But we both know you did.

You don't let yourself get that ensnared if you never cared.

Even if you went off and told all your friends it wasn't real, and that the game you were playing with that dumb girl was just so hilarious.

The truth is, talking to someone every day and night by your own free will, leads you to catch feelings.

Might not of been in the most traditional way, but we can all see the way your eyes would light up even momentarily when you'd see her name flash across your screen.

We could see you blow it off however, saying that you "thought it was someone else." But in your head you knew you wanted it to be her.

You cared about her. You even dreaded the day you'd have to tell her it was all a lie.

Funny how the day you took all your promises away, she told you that she loved you for the first time. You cried didn't you? You didn't want her to see you cry, but everyone knew it was about that time.

She cried too. You already knew that though. She wasn't so subtle about the way tears filled her eyes, and leaked over slowly enough that you could see yourself in them as the trickled down to her chest. She was a pretty crier, making what you were about to do even harder on yourself.

"It was all a game. I never wanted anything to do with you." You left it at that, out loud anyway, but in your head, we all knew you were screaming that you were only doing this for the prying eyes all around you. They knew only the surface of what was going to happen, but deep inside, dams were breaking, and the flood is doing a lot more than the slow trickle you wished would've been enough.

"I knew. I knew it everyday for this entire year. I was just too hopeful I guess." Her voice shows you how heart broken she is, and you're left with that guilt at the base of your throat. You won't say anything more to her, because no matter what you think you should say, it won't ever take back what you've just admitted to.

A weak smile is all you can manage to offer her, and that's it. You walk slowly away, waiting for something to happen and it never does. Now two people are left shattered, and ready for death, all because you couldn't keep your mouth shut.
