Read a chapter, and put sticky notes on quotes as you go, then when you finish the chapter, go back and do the dialectical journal. Tip 2: Identify- So the sticky notes again..yeah I know shut up. When you put the sticky note on the quote, write on the sticky note which method you will use for that quote. For example, if you find a quote and decide you want to use that one for "predict" write (P) for predict on the sticky note and stick it on the quote. This is so when you go back to do the dialectical journal, you know which method you will use for the quote. Tip 3: Make organized tables- If you are typing, you can make a table in Word, it'll help you organize your dialectical journal easier. If you are doing it by hand, you can draw one for how many quotes you have. Tip 4: Do it little at a time- If you don't have a short time limit, do the dialectical journal little at a time. Unless it's just one chapter, in which case don't do a little at a time. If you are doing a whole book like I had to do for The Great Gatsby then do a few chapters at a time. Just do it based on your time limit. I had a month to do mine but if you have a week you probably want to do a good portion of the chapters per night.
A/N: If you have any other tips for dialectical journals put them in the comments so other people can read them. Also, if you wanted to know more about the post its, you can get them in this little book thing.
