Innocent Waters

A/N: Aislin is said (ASH lin).

Prologue

I can still remember that day perfectly. The waves were perfect, rising and breaking in the tube area perfectly. I was wearing my favorite bikini, which I don't wear anymore. It was red with black dots. Trisha was smiling right beside me. She was wearing her blue bikini. We were both carrying our boards--mine blue, hers red. Trisha smiled and looked at a wave, which was beginning to form. "Race ya!"

She started to paddle, but I hung back, looking at the wave. It was pretty far out; no one ever surfs that far out. I shook my head. What's the worse that can happen? I started to paddle hard, trying to catch up with Trisha. She looked back at me, grinning. Suddenly, I felt the water shift under me. I looked down to see a shadow pass by me and swim towards Trisha. I saw the fin too late.

"Trisha!" A scream stuck in my throat, as I watched a shark jump on Trisha's board and start to attack her. "TRISHA!" I screamed, paddling towards her. I didn't care about that stupid shark. Trisha didn't scream when the shark attacked her. Nor did she when that stupid thing ate her limbs. Nor did she when her blood appeared in the calm blue water, violent red. The shark apparently got bored and swam off. I swam towards Trisha and started to cry. Both of her arms were torn off, along with one leg. I cried and threw up as I paddled us back to the shore. I didn't care if the shark came back for seconds. I didn't.

...After the attack, we (her parents & I) learned that Trisha lost both of her arms and one of her legs. She now had two stubs for arms and had to wear a robotic leg. Stupid shark! After Trisha spent her time in the hospital, her parents whisked her off to somewhere in Maine. All I want..is my best friend back.
