The bed below me was large and cozy. My heart throbbed a little, not willing to get up from the luxurious comfort. I rubbed my eyes looking up at the embellishing chandelier on the ceiling. That was the only source of light right now. The golden curtains were still drawn not allowing even a peek of sunlight to enter the room.
Adrien’s arms were protectively wrapped around my waist. He’d still not woken up as his eyelids were still fallen shut. I wasn’t ready to give up this moment, it still seemed like a dream to me.
From across his room I could see the wall-clock ticking, it was just 6:00 am. I closed my eyes again just for a few minutes, muting myself to listen to his silent breathing. I rested my neck on the crook of his neck where I could feel his warm breath.
I slowly unbraided his arms from my waist, not wishing to awaken him. I sat up straight on his bed with my legs crossed. I couldn’t help but stare at Adrien as he lay quietly on the soft mattress. His ginger blonde hair was all messed up and curled from the bottom. Everything in there felt so serene and peaceful.
I had to go before he’d wake up. I calmly ran my fingers through his hair whispering, ’’I love you’’ to him. The corners of his lips slightly curved up as if he was smiling. He was deeply lost in his dreams. I placed my lips on his forehead gently kissing him goodbye. He shook a bit as I’d disturbed his sleep but his green orbs weren’t keen on opening up just yet.
I peered through the curtains. It was still dark and foggy outside. The sun had already risen but it was covered behind the curtain of dewy mountains. A cold wind blew inside as I noticed Adrien shiver a bit. I pulled the sheets over his bare shoulders before leaving him.
I changed back to my soiled clothes and giving Adrien one last look I left his room. He looked like such an Angel. I took the stairs this time. I tip toed across the large living room hoping not to awaken the sleeping siblings. I looked up towards the large mansion, I did miss coming here. But I couldn’t let my thoughts swallow me as I quickly hurried away.
The streets were vacant as not a single human or vehicle was not in sight. I crossed my arms across my chest feeling the cold waves blowing through my spine. My house was not very far from there, I just needed to get home and make sure no one had laid their hands on my mom’s journal.
My foster parents had gone away for the weekend and I didn’t expect Aiden to have woken up so early in the morning. To my incredulity my room door was open. I couldn’t remember if I’d locked it last time before leaving.
As I nervously went close to my door I saw a scrawny figure appear on the doorstep. ‘’You’re home early’’ Aiden said curiously examining my state. I flinched away a bit as I didn’t know what to say. ‘’Did your boyfriend kick you out’’ he said sarcastically.
‘’Oh c’mon, you seriously expect me to believe you stayed with Britney’’ he asked me still not allowing me to enter my room. I opened my mouth to give him another one of my fake answers but he cut me off. ‘’Don’t even bother lying, Brit came looking for you. She was worried about you.’’ Aiden looked quite angry and tired from all my lying games.
‘’Did she say anything’’ I asked him clearing my throat. He let out a sigh releasing his arms from himself, ‘’Not much,’’ he paused before continuing, ‘’ Other than the fact that you left school early with Damien’’ I felt disgusting as I understood whom he referred to as my boyfriend.
He raised his brows as he noticed me making a face at his words. ‘’Alright, so you spent the night with your ex.’’ It was obvious that he’d heard about the so called break up too. ‘’We’re still..um.. it’s complicated.’’ I nonchalantly replied as I honestly didn’t know where our relationship status stood.
