Chapter One

Nate rolled his eyes and pulled a face behind Aunt Clara's back. I stuffled a giggle. Aunt Clara's head whipped round quickly, her piercing blue eyes glaring at each of us. I turned my giggle into a cough.

"Are you coming down with the flu? I hope not," Aunt Clara enquired standing up and smoothing down her ballgown.

It was so puffy and girly I hated it. I had an exact replica just smaller. I'd much rather wear my scruffy dungarees. I knew that was out of the option though.

I winced as Aunt Clara's face almost touched mine. Her wrinkly hand brushed over my foreheard. I rather regretted faking a cough. Aunt Clara always fussed too much. Her hand was covered in beads of sweat and felt disgusting as it touched me. Ugh! How I wished she would have chosen just today to wear her ugly off-white silk gloves.

I glanced at Nate. He sent a apologetic look through his eyes. I couldn't stay mad at him for long. Afterall he was only trying to make me smile and have some fun. Nate and Warren were my older brothers. They were twins and both fifteen and also my best friends. Warren was slumped in an arm chair in next to Nate. We were all in our library. The room was darkened and it hurt my eyes. Warren suddenly burst into dance and within seconds Nate had joined in miming the words to a random song.

"Nathaniel, Warren are you listening to me?" Aunt Clara snapped twirling around to look at them.

"Yes Aunt Clara" they chorused together acting all innocent.

"Good now where was I? Oh yeah, you shall behave like gentleman and ladies. Your posture should be poised and you shall have good manners at all times. Your outfits, well like you are wearing now, clean and ironed and none of that scruffy dungarees, Daniella," she lectured.

"I want you ready at the kitchen by 5pm. Is that clear?" she continued staring with her piercing ugly blue eyes right into my emerald green eyes.

"Yes Aunt Clara, Thank you Aunt Clara" replied us all.

It started to sound like a tiresome record that had been broken. I didn't thank her! I hated her! I didn't want to be at the kitchen by 5. I didn't have much of a choice though. Aunt Clara excused us with a swift of her hand and continued searching through the books in our library.

I left the room with my brothers. As soon as we were out of ear-shot I began giggling hysterically. Nate and Warren grinned back at me. There deep brown eyes sparkling.

"What the hell was that?!" I giggled holding my stomach.

Warren waggled his eyebrows at me.

"Oh just a little special number for our favourite sis!" he said cheekily and began dancing again.

Waggling his hips and sashaying up and down the hallway. His air guitar creased me up. He ended by sliding along the floor.

"Ow ow carpet burn!" he complained grabbing his knees.

"Serves you right," I said poking my tongue out at him.

"Nathaniel!" a soft feminine voice giggled.

We all whipped around our hearts racing. A sweet blonde blushed shyly at Nate. It was only Kaitlyn Aunt Clara's maid. Nate grinned at her. Me and Warren exchanged looks. Here he goes again I thought. It seemed Warren was thinking the same thing. The two lovebirds just stood smiling at each other shyly for what seemed like a century. It was like they were in their own world.
