Chapter 4

The car ride was silent. The sound of music coming out of the radio the only sound. Perhaps the silence was due to the loud ring of what if's and other questions in our head. Even though doubts would always be present in my minds, the feeling of liberty, freedom and some rebellion was evident. I felt happy.

"Where are we exactly going?" He asked. I took my gaze off the window where I was watching the trees go by as we drove.

"I was thinking the agency, but I don't know. People will probably make plans for tonight if we pass the test, which we would have to take if we get there. If they make plans, we can't judt both say we're not going, they would even ask more questions." I said, my argument valid and reasonable. I saw him simply nod, taking in understandment what I just said.

"You don't like questions, do you?" He asked. How ironic...

"Depends." I said, turning up the radio as a familiar song came on that I liked.

Counting Stars by One Republic, this is my jam.

"On the question?"

"No on the squirrel!" I said sarcastically. Him laughing at my response, I laughing along shaking my head at my sudden childishness. Plus, no matter how pathetic my jokes are, I still laugh at them.

"That doesn't even make sense." He said.

Never in a million years would I have thought that 6 years after not talking to this guy, to the boy that used to be my best friend, my sidekick, partner in crime as little kids, the guy I thought I would never seperate from because he was my one and only playmate, the guy that now was obsessed with this agency ahit even though now he was helping me rebel against one of the most importan men that could make him an agent, I would never think that I'd be having small talk with him, on our way to anywhere, maybe everywhere.

"Train station." I said, answering the question that had probably been forgotten in his mind after a few minutes of silence.

"Wha- oh! okay, let's go to the train station." He simply said, making a turn to where I guess was the direction to the train station.

"Did you even bring any clothes?" I asked, looking at the backseats, only seeing my dufflebag, one or maybe even two if he was a heavy packer, nt being along with mine.

"I always have a spare dufflebag in my trunk, part of the rules. Always have packed clothing with importan essentials in hand in care of an emergency." He quoted the last part, a rule I think must be in some rule book or whatever the fuck he reads these pointless rukes from.

of course he would follow the rules...

"I don't follow the rules." I respoded to him, a smirk playing on my lips. A smirk of his own starting to grow.

"Of course you don't."

We arrived at the Californian train station. It was filled with countless people going this way or that way. A mess really. It was loud too. Too loud. I didn't exactly mind but I wasn't exactly used to being in these kinds of places. The only places I've been with this many people is an airport. And that was only oce since we had our own private jetplane and I rarely went out. The agency was never as full as this place unless something great was going to take place soon.

"Our train leaves in 10 minutes." Luke informed me, struckong me our of my momentary claustrophobic thoughts. With a simple nod, I continued staring at the train tracks, they were dirty and some garbage had been absentmindedly thrown.
