Pearl's P.O.V.

Running. Running. I had to lose them. I hurriedly swiped away the blood that was running down my face and blurring my vision. They were getting closer; I could hear their engines.

These things called themselves 'Decepticons' and all I knew about them was that they were giant robots with red eyes that could turn into cars. That, and they had just killed my only friend.

Near three in the morning, I paused to catch my breath behind a dumpster. My shoulders were shaking with suppressed sobs.

The dumpster was suddenly blasted away and I screamed as debris pinned my legs.

"Die, fleshling!" snarled the large robot.

I screamed louder as he fired his large cannon right at my face.

I bolted upright, a scream still in my throat. Covering my mouth, I held still to make sure I didn't wake any of the Autobots.

When no one transformed, I stealthily opened up Bee's back door and climbed out; only pausing to shut the door quietly behind me.

Without making a sound, I crept over to the door that led to the gym. Once the door closed behind me, I leaned up against it and exhaled, sliding down until my head rested on my knees.

"Trouble sleeping, Ma'am?" asked the voice of Captain Rogers.

I hastily stood and brushed myself off. "No. It's just whats in the sleeping that's bothering me."

Captain Rogers nodded in understanding and began to unwrap his hands. It was then that I noticed the punching bag on the floor. "I've found that talking about it with a trusted friend helps." He nodded towards the Autobot hanger. "You seem very close to, uh-?"

"Bumblebee." I agreed. "He's my best friend."

There was a very awkward silence. Captain Rogers could hear the 'but-' in my tone, but he didn't want to ask out of respect.

"How long have you known them?" he finally asked instead.

I let out a breath of laughter. "I met Bee when I was seventeen. I didn't meet the rest of the Autobots until I was maybe twenty."

"I sense a story behind that." Captain Rogers raised a curious eyebrow. "Care to share?"

All at once, my nightmare came rushing back to me, and my small smile dropped. "Perhaps another time."

He nodded, understanding. "How about a quick round, then? Something to distract your mind?"

I mischievously smiled. "You're going down, Captain."

An hour later, Will walked into the gym to find the Captain and I engaged in an intense sparring match.

"You move fast, but you don't knock your opponent down when you have the advantage." Captain Rogers grunted, dodging a left hook.

"Yeah? Well you need to watch your left side." I retaliated, ducking under a spinning kick. "You carry that shield around so much that you've become reliant on it." I managed to land a solid hit that sent Captain Rogers stumbling several paces back.

"OK!" Will interrupted suddenly. "As much as I would like to see this continue- we really do need everyone at the top of their game today."

I laughed and held my hand out to Captain Rogers. "Good match, Captain. It was a nice warm-up."
