I like the warmth of the sun but I hate that it covers the stars. If I could choose between the sun and stars, though, I'd take the whole galaxy ~anon
I felt the need to put a quote at the beginning of each chapter to like give you all hints and stuff soooo.

*at the barbecue, next day*

I threw some sand around, kicking it with my feet or moving it away with a wooden sword. Finally I heard the squish of sand and people talking. I look up and there they are.

Matt and his father were walking towards us and I, joined by my dad, started walking towards them to meet up.

"Hey Matthew, hey Cory." My dad greeted, bringing Cory into a bro hug. "Food will be done soon!"

"Good. We are totally ready for your--" their voices muffled as they walked one way and Matt and I walked the other.

"Wanna go play in the woods?" Matt asked. "We can go climb trees and explore!"

I nod and just continue to follow him. "Sounds like fun.." But the squids... Icky squishy slimy squids. I'm almost certain Matt noticed my distain.

"I'll protect you from the squids." He said, sighing. "You fruit loop." I shot him a quick glance and stuck my tongue out.

After a while of exploring, Matthew found a squid. "Look Troye!" I seen it and shivered. "Come on, give him a stroking. He won't hurt you, he's probably dead!"

I touched the thing that Matthew held up with a stick. More shivers. "Ew!" I giggle, poking another squid that had washed up on shore with a stick. "Put it down Matt!" He did. But not because of what I said. We heard yelling.

Matt and I raced to where our parents are. Cory was fighting my uncle and his partner. A drink in one hand and the other curled into a fist.

"Dad!" Matthew got in the way and started pushing Cory back. "You promised me this wouldn't happen!"

I did nothing but stare as they left, hiding at the side of my father while Cory mumbled words. He threw the drink aside and they left. I felt my dads hand touch my shoulder. "I know you two are best friends but, maybe we should limit your stays over at Matthews house to twice a month instead..." He said.

"Why?" I ask him. I didn't like this idea...I didn't like it one bit. "What happened?"

"Cory just isn't the type of person I want you to be around all the time. Matthew can come over anytime he wants though. Don't worry. We wouldn't take your best friend away from you." My mum pitched in. I sighed, tears welling up in my eyes.

"Don't cry Troye." My uncle says. "Eat and instead rejoice that you have a better family."
