(Jazzlynn's Pov)

It was finally time to go home. After Bella and I dropped off our passes, we headed to her truck. We were walking down the steps. I got bored of walking, so I sat on the pole.

"Jazzlynn"

"Isabella"

I smirked as I saw her flinch. I slid down the pole and landed perfectly on my feet.

"Bet you can't do that Bells"

"You're right, I can't."

When she finally joined me, she saw Edstupid climb into a shiny silver Volvo with his family. Bella hurries to her truck. I roll my eyes at him and hurry after her. Many eyes are watching her. I had enough.  I snapped. I shouted,

"Hey! Quit staring at my sister! Unless you have something you want to say, then I highly fucking suggest you stop the staring and mind your own damn business!

After that, everyone instantly looked away. I looked smug. Bella was giving me a look.

"Oh, don't give me that look Bells. He's not worth your anger."

"He's a jerk"

"He is. He'll see it soon."

Later that afternoon Dad, Bella, and I were at a diner. I was humming while looking around. Our waitress Cora sets a sirloin steak in front of dad and I. Bella got a veggie burger. Eugh. Several people at the counter give Bella and I welcoming smiles. She shrinks in her seat. I had been chewing some steak. I decided to get them off her back. I opened my mouth and showed my chewed up food. They instantly looked away. I closed my mouth and chewed while glaring. Bella sent me a thankful look. Dad was oblivious the whole time.

"I can't get over how grown up you two are. And so gorgeous"

I gave her a genuine smile. Bella glanced at Dad. Dad kept his eyes on his steak. I feel ya dad. I continued to eat. A guy walked over. Who the heck was he?

"Hey Bella, Jazz. Remember me? I was Santa one year"

I snorted quietly into my food trying not to embarrass anyone. Dad said,

"Waylon, they haven't had a Christmas here since they were four"

"Bet I made an impression, though

"You always do"

"Let the girls eat their food, Waylon" Then Cora spoke to Bella and I,

"When you're done, I'll bring your favorite-berry cobbler. Remember? Your dad still has it. Every Thursday"

I could tell Bella doesn't remember it but I vaguely remember. Bella answered,

"That'd be great, thank you"

Cora shoos Waylon away. Now that we were alone, I could eat in piece. I watched them. They both reach for the ketchup. They ended up knocking hand. He went for the salt instead. We heard a family laugh from a nearby happy family. I had to say something,

"This is so awkward I can cut tension with a butter knife"

Bella decided bridge the gap, or whatever that means.

"So...you eat here every night?

"Easier than washing dishes

"I can cook"

Dad looks up. He looks confused by the concept. I snorted into my drink.

"I do the cooking at home-in Phoenix. Mom's not great in the kitchen. I banned Jazz from entering."

Oh yeah, last time I tried to cook, I almost burned the kitchen. hahaaha, good times.

"I remember"

They laugh while I rolled my eyes.

"How was school? Have you two met anyone?

"A few people"

I decided to ask,

"Do you know the Cullen family dad?

"Are people talking about them again?

"Again?" I was confused. They've been talked about before.

"No...well, a little"

"Just 'cause they're newcomers. We're lucky to have a surgeon like Dr. Cullen at our Podunk hospital. Lucky his wife wanted to live in a small town. Lucky his kids aren't like a lot of the hell-raisers around here."

That's the most I heard dad speak. To be honest, I'm impressed.

"Okay" Oh Bella.

"I just don't like narrow mindedness."

Well, that was the end of that conversation.
