Sandwiches and cheese

When he opened the door to home, a fat chocolate lab waddled up to him, panting and licking all over his face as Ash got down onto his knees to embrace the dog.
"Hey, I missed you bud." Marmite the dog, yes I repeat, Marmite the dog, rolled over onto his back for Ash letting him rub his stomach. Besides himself, Marmite was the closest thing that Ash had to a friend, the only problem being that Marmite didn't speak English and another that he didn't qualify as a person. Yet. Getting off his knees, he shoved his vans at the bottom of the steps and ran up to his room. Slinging his backpack onto the floor and leaping onto his bed with a huge sigh. The week had got off to a bad start, this Sky girl was changing things around for him which didn't settle very well with him, or his anxiety either.
The front door slammed downstairs and a familiar voice shouted a "hello!" up the stairs.
"Take Marm for a walk will you?" He called up, Ash internally groaning at the thought of more excercise.
"Okay." Ash called back down, wishing there was someone else who would do it, as much as he loved Marmite, walking just wasn't his forté or preferred way to spend his time.

By the time Ash made it to the park,  the sun had begun to shrink behind the buildings casting a warm glow on the neighbourhood as he marched further into the grass.
He let Marmite off his leash and wandered to the kids play area in search of the swings.
However, when he got there one was already taken. A girl sat in the swings hood drawn up, cigarette in hand, a half full bottle of vodka in the other.
She took a long drag from the cigarette and then placed the bottle to her lips, taking a long swig from the bottle.
For gods facking sake, it's Sky.
He went to turn around, treading as silently as he could, this girl seemed to have super sonic senses or some wild shit.
"Ash?"
How the actual heck did she even know who it was.
Ash cleared his throat and turned around. She was looking over her shoulder, her grey eyes glinting with the pastel pinks of the sky painted above. They were unfocused though, and pink and puffy.
She smiled though and hopped off the swing.
"Ashhhh..."
He didn't know what to do as she walked over to him and swung him into a hug.
She's drunk alright.
A moment later she pulled back and placed her hands either side of his face.
"Ohmygosh. Ash."
He flinched. Her hands began to smush his cheeks. Oh god this can't be happening.
Ash just prayed to the gods that no-one was watching.
"Sky," he said in a small voice, "please stop.."
The last words came out as a whisper, so only she could hear.
It was only then she really looked at him. Into his eyes instead of concentrating on smushing his cheeks at random angles.
"You're a killjoy." She huffed, plonking down onto the grass like a small child.
"A what?" He said, the mini fanboy inside him was screaming.
"A killjoy. You kill my joy. I'm sad now. You," she said pointing a inked finger in his general direction, "made me sad."
She gasped and fell backwards clutching her chest.
"Ow."
Wow so Sky turns into a baby when she's drunk. Noice.
He sat down on the grass infront of her, sighing.
"A killjoy like from My Chemical Romance was what I was leaning towards actually, but-"
"From what?!" Sky gasped again, rocketing up from the grass, her eyes wide.
They're like tiny silver spaceships trapped in her eyes. How poetic. Ash thought randomly.
He coughed, "...My chemical romance...they're a band- I don't think you would've heard-"
"Ash." Sky said with sudden clarity, "I love them."
"You-what?" Ash spluttered, his eyes widening to match hers.
"I love fucking MCR Ash." The haziness creeped back in when she said his name. How drunk was she?
It didn't feel right leaving her in the park suddenly, she was too open, to vulnerable.
When did you start caring so much for a stranger Ash? God fucking dammit.
The glow of the sun had disappeared behind the trees of the park, leaving only a warm breeze slipping over him.
"I should head back home Sky." He said getting up, his inner fanboy still rebounding off his skull to be let out.
No she can't know about me. Just knowing a band I like is enough. Next I'll be spilling my life secrets to her, it's only been one fucking day dammit.
"Aw but Ashh..." She pouted making a slow attempt to grab his leg as he turned.
"Marmite!" He called seeing a shadowy figure come galloping out of the bushes as he pushed back up his walls.
He could hear Sky giggling below him, every now and then murmuring something about sandwiches and cheese.
No. She couldn't know anymore.
He whispered "bye" and set off again home with Marmite by his side.
It's only been one bloody day and this girl had already broken down one of his walls. How many would be left standing at the end of the week if she stayed?
Ash started walking and winced as something sharp twinged in his chest.
