I hadn't seen my father in four long years, but this summer he had decided to invite me to stay with him and his new wife for a few weeks. My mother pulled up outside of the natatorium in which my father trained his swimming students, saying goodbye to my mother I exited the car and headed into the building. As I entered I could hear whistles sounding throughout the complex, I followed the sound until they became louder, turning a corner I found myself at the entry way to the 50m pool room. As I walked in I could see my father standing behind the starting platforms, whistle in his mouth he looked up at me and waved. He had certainly aged quite a bit since I last saw him, his hair had greyed tremendously and the wrinkles around his eyes had deepened and multiplied. I continued walking towards him, only seeing the swimmers doing laps out the corner of my eye. Out of nowhere my feet decided to give way, resulting in me falling extremely ungracefully, bum first into the pool. Going under I was in too much shock to resurface on my own, it seemed like minutes before I felt two strong arms wrap themselves around me. When I breached the surface I gasped, sucking oxygen into my lungs. After I had finished gasping like a fish, I realised that the arms that had pulled me to the surface still held onto my waist. Sweeping my eyes up along my rescuers body, I felt my face redden at how toned his torso was. Hearing him snicker, my eyes snapped up to his, upon seeing his amused expression I felt myself redden even more.
'Rating out of ten?'
Blushing more I stuttered out 'eleven'
He chuckled and led me over to the edge of the pool. Grabbing onto my waist again he hoisted me up and lifted me onto the edge of the pool, then pulled himself up after me. Standing he held his hand out to me, I grasped it and he pulled me up, then walked me over to my father who handed me a towel.
'How was your swim love? I see you've already met our finest swimmer, Mack.' He chuckled, 'How have you been?'
'My swim was very nice, yes I have and lifes been pretty good thanks Dad' I said moving in for a hug.
After hugging Dad I wandered down to the shallow end of the pool and dangled my legs in, watching as Mack resumed his laps. I was enthralled by his technique, he was as graceful as a dolphin. I sat watching him till training finished.
