"No" Aelin growled. This was not up for debate.

"You think I want to leave you here an ocean away? I have to do this, I will not risk Maeve catching us off guard." Rowan argued, he knew she wouldn't understand, and that Aelin would be furious. He could tell by the increasingly large flame growing in the fireplace, but he had no choice. They'd known that what happened in Wendlyn would have many consequences, and now with Lorcan leaving Maeve, the fae queen's temper was definitely on a short leash.

"But by yourself, the second she realizes you are in Wendlyn, you will have a target on your back. At least bring Aedion with you." Aelin couldn't believe Rowan was this stupid, well actually she could especially when it came to protecting her. Stupid Fae bullshit. A few of Rowan's  friends in Maeve's court reported that they heard about talk of an attack on Adarlan. As much as she hated that wretched kingdom Dorian is the king, and she would be willing help only for his sake.

"I'm not bringing anyone because I won't risk anyone else's life, especially your family's."

"Aedion would have a fit if he heard you say that you thought he needed protection." Aelin joked, Rowan didn't find it amusing.

"Aelin..." Rowan started. "I will be fine, I'm not even going to be near Maeve, much less be reckless enough to get myself killed. I just need to know if she actually plans attack Adarlan or Terrasen for that matter." Gods he hated this, every part of this. Leaving her here, being on another continent not knowing if she's safe, knowing that she will be thinking the same thing about him. He walked towards her where she was leaning on the mantle looking at the floor. He tilted her chin upwards to face him as he kissed her brow.

"I hate how you're always right, it's quite irritating." Rowan chuckled and pulled her into his arms. She breathed in his calming scent of pine and snow, how was she going to do this without him? Well she had for the past 10 years, without anyone really, she could handle a few months. It's not like she would be alone, she had Aedion and Lysandra by her side. Aelin hugged him tighter nestling her head in the crook of his neck. "Gods I'm going to miss you." she whispered.

"I know" Rowan replied kissing the top of her head.

"Oh please I know you'll miss me even more." Aelin teased. Rowan sighed pulled away to see her  face.

"I hate how you're always right, it's quite irritating." Rowan imitated, earning a slap on the shoulder from aelin and a slight grin.

"So when are you leaving?" she asked while walking towards her closet.

"Tomorrow night."

"Well then, I guess we should make tonight count." Aelin exclaimed from inside her closet.

"Oh really?" Rowan replied mischievously, eyeing the closet as Aelin walked out in a golden, small, lacy nightgown. She walked over to the bed, hips swaying and sat down on the edge.

"It's not honorable to leave your queen waiting." Aelin prodded as she lied down.

"I certainly wouldn't want my queen to be left waiting now would I?" The Fae prince replied as he stalked over to the bed, a hungry look in his eyes.
