Chapter 3

He's rummaging through a cooler. I stood behind him. Woah, he's so tall. To be honest, the is the closest that I could get.

"Seen any Red Bull?" he says.

I turn around to see who he's talking to. But we're the only ones here. So that means, he is talking to me. LUKE HEMMINGS IS TALKING TO ME!

"Uhhhhh... No nope. Sorry." I feel like a complete idiot. Now he's going to think that I'm a loser. Why Candice why.

He grabs a Coke bottle.

Whenever I'm near Luke, I feel like he has this power over me. He doesn't even have to be within visual range for me to get all finished. Just knowing he's in the same building reduces me to a jangle of nerves. But being this close to him makes every cell in my body twang with anticipation.

He look at me, holding the cooler lid open.

"Do you want one?"

"oh! Uh yeah... Sorry."

Note to Candice: stop apologizing. You sound like a complete moron.

"This is kinda awkward," Luke says. This means he's talking to me some more.

"Uh yeah..." I'm the one who's making the situation awkward. For some stupid reason, I'm still staring into the cooler trying to decide which drink I want while Luke is holding the lid for me. That's apparently impossible to do while the boy I'm in love with is watching me...

Okay Candice, focus. Should I just come right out and tell him now? Or should I ask if he can talk later?

"You're the girl who always win awards for the best dish/dessert right?" Luke asked.

wait. What? How can he possibly know that? I've been taking part in cooking and baking competitions ever since I stepped into this school. I've been cooking and baking for years! I just love food!

"Yeah!" I select a Pepsi can. Luke closes the cooler."How do you know that?"

"I've noticed you. You're outstanding." He said, grinning. Damn, those dimples.

"You have? Really? Thanks"

"Didn't you bake for the whole school during the school fair?"

"Yes I did."

"Those brownies were awesome."

"Thanks."

I cannot believe he remembers that and what did he mean by "I've noticed you?" Does he mean by I've noticed how ordinary you are or I've noticed you because I'm in love with you too?

With all the possible things I could talk to Luke Hemmings about and all the back scenarios I'd planned in case opportunity like this ever came up, I can't think of a single thing that would keep him interested in this conversation
