Chapter One: Sunsets in Paris

I observed the scene above me, grinning at its beauty. The sky was mixed with different shades of pink and orange, one colour fading into the next.

The setting was perfect, too. Aromas from French tulips to fresh bakery bread enveloped me, resulting in my giddiness. The Eiffel Tower rose up beyond all structures, towering over who should approach it.

And, even after all of this, I was happiest about one thing. I was spending it with my boyfriend, Niall Horan. We'd flew out here to Paris for a vacation. We were on our way to flatter ground so we could see the sunset, but I didn't think we were going to make it time. That didn't matter to me, though. As long as I had Niall, I could miss anything to be with him.

Niall truly was a beaut. From his artificially blonde hair to his crude humour, he was quite a wonder. I loved to sit and listen about annoying customers and why Derby County was better than Manchester United. Not that I agreed, but just listening to his melodic voice was uplifting.

A gentle tug on my arm snapped me out of my thoughts. I was stopped and Niall was trying to get me to keep walking, a look of frustration evident.

"Oi! Save yer thoughts for later! We've got a sunset to watch!" Niall scolded, pulling my arm again.

We kept speed-walking until we were on the outskirts of Paris. Sitting atop of the grass was half of the golden sun, the appearance of a hole in the magenta sky.

"It's beautiful, Ni." I breathed, staring at it.

"Yeah, no thanks to you stopping." He replied jokingly.

"I'm glad I get to spend it with you." I said, tearing, literally tearing my gaze away from the one work of art to look at another.

"Aye! Get up ye lazy arse!" My mum yelled, violently shaking my shoulder.

I opened my eyes and glared at her. "What do you want?" I asked bitterly.

"You've practically slept the day away. Get up." She responded with distaste.

I sighed and sat up stretching. She left the room and I fell back onto my bed, allowing myself to fall back into unconsciousness due to the warmth of my bed.

"Do ya hear what I'm saying? Get up!" She shouted, ripping my duvet from my bed and slipping my pillow out from under my head.

"Why don't ya ever let me sleep anymore?" I screamed, getting up. "What's wrong with a little rest?!" I finished, pushing past her and storming to the bathroom. I slammed the door and locked it, sitting on the loo.

What was I to do in this god forsaken house?

I opened the mirror/medicine cabinet and grabbed the sleeping pills, smiling.

I was gonna see my Niall again.
