A/N: I'm thinking of switching to Rainer's POV sometimes. What do you guys think?
She was shorter than him by- well- a lot, but everyone usually was. She was several inches taller than Juniper, however.
Her hair was a soft brown and slightly curly. Rainer did a double take and realized there were a couple streaks of teal and coral in it for some reason. It was certainly unusual, but Rainer thought it had a rather pretty effect on the girl. It just seemed to fit her for some reason.
He also noticed that she had a very unique smile. It almost seemed like a smirk, one corner of her mouth was higher than the other. Yet it didn't seem arrogant. Rather, it was as if she shared a joke with whoever she was smiling at.
Then Juniper said, "Um, this is Rainer, my cousin. Rainer, this is..." she trailed off, her ears going red, "Actually, I forgot to ask your names."
Rainer smiled; Juniper wasn't very social. He really needed to work with her on that.
"M'name's Chase Soriano," said the boy quickly, "I'm twelve years old, and my favorite color is red." he pushed his glasses up and held his hand out when he finished. They all shook hands with him.
Then the girl spoke, extending her hand, "I'm Xylia. Xylia Clark." Like her smile, Xylia's voice had an odd quirk to it. It was lively, yet calm at the same time.
Rainer took her hand, a little quicker than he intended. It was stained with paint and calloused as if she worked with her hands a lot.
"Uh, I'm Rainer. But, um, you already knew that. . ." he gave a nervous chuckle. Why was he feeling so flustered all of a sudden?
