Sweetpaw swayed and took a step back. "But... But we all thought-" She began but was stopped by Yellowpaw. He looked at her and smiled. "If it keeps you guys safe, I'm willing to sacrifice my freedom."
"No!" Came a voice. Bramble shoved past her cats. "I will not loose my apprentice!" She meowed.
"Bramble, you're like a second mother to me. Can I speak with you privately?" He asked.
She dipped her head to the young apprentice. "Yes."
Yellowpaw went to the medicine den. "Please trust me. I'll make sure I come back. If I'm not back by next season then you come and get me. This is the best way to stop them. This is the best way to keep everyone safe. This is the best way.." Yellowpaw looked out of the den at the hissing and angry Foxpaw. "To keep him safe."
"I understand, but for Foxpaw..?" Bramble asked as she tipped her head to one side, her eyes shone with confusion.
Yellowpaw sighed. "The way he tried to save me during the battle it made me relize.. He's not mean he's just feels like he's unnoticed. Please tell him I'm sorry. For everything."
"I'll do that." She meowed to her apprentice.
"I'm leaving tonight."
Bramble looked down at her paws. "There must he another way! But.. I see there's nothing I can do to change your mind as much as I dislike that.." She choked.
Yellowpaw burries his nose into her shoulder. "You're like a mother to me Bramble. Please keep them safe for me?" He looked up at her like a kit. Bramble nodded her head. "I shall do my best." She mewed.
"Thank you. I'm going to say goodbye to everyone." He mewed and padded out of the den.
As he padded away, she let sadness sweep over her. "If only she could be here to see you grow..." She muttered to herself.

Yellowpaw walked up to Foxpaw. "F-Foxpaw..?" He mewed gently.
Foxpaw looked at him. "What is it Herbpaw..?" He grumbled.
"I.. I just wanted to say goodbye." He mewed. Yellowpaw looked away sadly. Did he really not care?
He was mad, burning with anger that he was going to leave AshClan and him too.
"If you're going, I'm going with you!" Foxpaw blurted out.
Yellowpaw wiped his head around. "N-No! You can't!"
"Yes! And there's no way you can change my mind!" He wailed. Yellowpaw stood up and stood nearly nose to nose with him. "You can't. I promise I'll come back but you can't." He meowed.
The bright ginger apprentice looked down. "But.. AshClan needs you if Bramble..." He didn't finish.
"She's young. I promise she won't die." Yellowpaw vowed.
He blinked and started to tremble. "But, you can't go. Who'll I call Herbpaw?" He mewed, trying to joke. "Heh..heh. Just call me herbpaw while I'm gone. I'm not really leaving. My heart's always here. I'm always here." He smiled trying not to cry.
Foxpaw saw Coal approach them. Before the older cat could speak, he blurted out, "If he goes, I go!"
Yellowpaw slapped his tail across his muzzle. "I'm a medicine cat apprentice and he's a Warriors. I deal with herbs that can save lives  he fights. You already have cats that fight."
Coal blinked. "I need you for one purpose I suppose. I've had she-cats give birth but either they loose their lives, the kits loose theirs, or dogs and twolegs take them. He can come along if he means so much to you." He meowed.
"Let's go Coal. If I stay here any longer I'll have a heart attack!" Yellowpaw mewed.
"If that is what you wish." The black tom meowed and the three padded away.

The first faint streaks of approaching dawn light showed as Yellowpaw and Coal walked to the Twoleg place:reeking of the stench of monsters and rubbish.
Yellowpaw looked down. "We're here. What do you want us to do?"
"Well, you can lounge around." He mewed with a shrug.
Yellowpaw dipped his head. "Yes sir..." He mewed and laid down a few fox lengths away.
Foxpaw laid beside him.
"I'm sorry I dragged you into this.." He mewed apologetically.
"It's okay." Foxpaw replied.
Yellowpaw looked at him and smiled. "I- I'm glad you came with me." He admitted.
Foxpaw purred. "I would."
"But why? I thought you didn't like me." The yellow furred tom mewed. "Well, I just wanted to come.. You need some cat to call you Herbpaw." The bright ginger apprentice joked. Yellowpaw smiled. "Yeah." He mewed laying his head on his paws.
Foxpaw purred.
"I didn't know you cared." Yellowpaw joked.
"Well I do." He mewed joking along with him.
Yellowpaw smiled and pressed against him. "I'll protect you. You protect me. Deal?"
"Deal." He meowed in agreement. Yellowpaw purred and closed his eyes, Foxpaw's breathing helped calm him. He smiled watching him close his eyes. Yellowpaw eventually fell asleep.
