Disclaimer: I do not own KHR or DC, just the storyline written. I am also the same writer from FFN.com who wrote this revamped story so you do not have to worry your little heads about this being a stolen fanfic.

Kinks are still trying to be smoothed out. If this rewrite works out, and I figure out how to write crimes, I will be able to fill in every hole in the story. Again, I will try to tone down details, I realize that I fill in too much and progress too little.

Enjoy the series.

A Thought of Alliance

Chapter 1: Premonition?

At times, Conan didn't like the idea of being in an alliance with others.

It's not that he could trust anyone with his secret, as revealing his identity would result in a mass assassination of everyone he cared and those who know about it. Who would want that kind of ending?

And he couldn't just ask for help. It wouldn't have worked anyway. Kudo Shinichi, famous High School Detective and called Heisei Holmes, reduced to a child (a.k.a. Edogawa Conan) by a poison (made by a certain also-shrunken scientist that worked for them before defecting) which was supposed to have killed him due to his idiocy of not checking for where the other partner of a black-marketing of weaponry.

Yeah, like that would be a good explanation. It would just send him straight to the nearest psychiatric (for children) hospital instead; for both him and comrades in circumstance.

Alliances with the CIA, FBI, Interpol and Metro Police, are inevitable considering they had more tabs on the organization he is in pursuit of. The need in interacting with them is a must; if Conan/Shinichi ever wants to return to living normally.

Individuals he could trust with his secrets are like Hiroshi Agasa, Haibara 'Sherry' Ai, Hattori Heiji and some handful of others; though a good portion is more towards friends.

Agasa is partially his guardian and the creator for the gadgets he now possesses (he would never be alive today if he didn't have them. How many times he thanked the old professor for the times they saved his life is an ever growing list as time went).

Ai is the only one that can create the cure for their shrunken problem as she was the one who had a hand in creating the so-called poison.

Heiji, being his friend and rival at times, helped him tremendously in order for himself to stop acting as Conan. (He would never say it upfront, but if Heiji didn't figure out he was Shinichi, Conan was sure to have been six-feet under long ago due to not being able to coop).

Kaitou KID is... a difficult case... their partnership was an 'on-and-off' type; depends if their goals intersect in pursuit of justice (though, hitting and cuffing the thief is quite tempting at times).

Then, there's Vermouth: a mysterious Black Organization member who he couldn't decipher. Her reasons for keeping the secret of Conan and Ai's real identities and their location is as mysterious as to why everyone chases their own shadows. She even helps him indirectly on occasions. But back on topic.

Alliances mean to be dependent on someone.

It means secrets must be laid bare on the table for the other in a sign of trust.

But the real question lies as to why was Conan thinking of the meaning behind Alliances early in the morning of a school day? Well, let's just blame the faux-child scientist who had just outright said, "What do you think about being in alliance with someone?" out of nowhere once he sat down at his desk, getting ready for a new (boring) day.
