Do you like antagonists or protagonists better?
Antagonists. They're super important and you can make a story where there is only antagonist. Same with only protagonists but the stories are too lighthearted for my taste.
(Jeff the killer orgin story. The bullies are antagonists, but then he becomes a serial killer so hes also a villian)
(LJ orgin story. Issac and LJ. They both tourtured and killed)
