"Wake up!" the angry voice growled. My eyes flew open only to see nothing at all. The room was dark and cold. A musty smell lingered in the air like ghouls roaming the earth. I was terrified.
A shape emerged from the shadows. That's when I noticed that the door was open and a light was coming from somewhere beyond it. They stood there, lurking over me.
"Let's go." He yelled. I had no intentions of moving. If he wanted me to move then he would just have to make me.
"What do you want?" W-who are you?" I asked. My voice started to crack but I quickly tried to cover up my cowardness.
"Did I tell you to talk?" His voice boomed through the room making my ear drums feel like they had popped. "You know what? I think I'll just punish you. Since you want to be a bad girl."
I started to back away into the corner of the room. "No. P-please."
He grabbed me by the hair and threw me into the other side of the wall.
I felt a stream of blood trickle down my face and pool on the floor next to me.
It was quiet for a moment. The silence was more terrifying than the thunder of his voice. I didnt know if he was going to hurt me again. I tried to stay as quiet as I could, hoping he would go away.
I tried to count the breaths that I took. Hoping that somehow I would magically be brought into another world. Another world where it was just me and Dalaun.
Dalaun.
Would he come for me? Apart of me was hoping that he would. Another hoped that he didnt. I didnt want him to suffer the same fate as I most likely would. If sacrificing my life meant he would be safe I would do it a million times.
"Agh! " The kick that this monster had delivered to my ribs most likely broken atleast two. My hair was pulled back as I was lifted into the air.
"Are you ready to cooperate?" My response was to kick him in the leg. Probably wasnt a good idea but I didnt care. I was going to die anyway, right? Might as well keep my dignity. If I even had any left.
He threw me to the ground again and I took advantage of this as this left me with a clear path through the door and into the light. I pushed off the ground and hopped back onto my feet. Without looking back I ran through the door.
"That was a stupid idea," I heard him call. Ignoring the sick bastard I pushed on toward freedom. If I got out I wasnt going to waste anytime with my life. I was going to have kids, get married and live a happy life. I have let hurt rule my life. I was taking it back. No longer would I let myself hold back. I was going to live my life and I was going to live it passionately.
I finally reached the stairs after what it felt like eons of time. To my surprise it led to a backyard. The grass wasnt the most beautiful green and the lawn wasnt perfectly manicured but it had a sort of charm. There was a small garden in the far corner of it that looked to hold all sorts of flowers. These however looked perfect. I remember how my mother was always in her garden when I was younger. I would be playing on my little swing that she had tied to a thick branch on a tree that was centered perfectly in the yard. As I scanned the rest of the yard I almost jumped out of my pants.
The same exact tree was there. A light humming was coming from behind me and I whipped around.
A woman was in the garden now. Her hair was long and dark just like mine. I could see that she was pulling weeds from the ground and she hummed along with the rythym of each one that she pulled. My feet started to move forward voluntarily even though it didnt feel like I was doing it. The woman now had gotten a small shovel and was digging. I was now standing right behind her but she didnt seem to notice. Next to her was something covered in a black sheet. She dropped the shovel and began to uncover it. A pair of feet was uncovered first and as she moved the sheet up more and more I could see that it was a woman. When she had uncovered the entire body I saw that the woman was familiar. She had long dark hair, full lips the color of a peach, a diamond shaped face and golden skin. Shock came through me as I noticed that this girl was in fact me.
