As soon as the door was unlocked, the first thing I really wanted to do was lay on the floor and not move for another month and a half. Maybe three months, if I was really feeling it. Instead, I knew we'd curl up on some soft area in the house and probably whine about what all we had to do in the next week that was supposed to be called a break.
"Home." I breathed out happily, dropping the bags in my hands onto the floor and stepping forward. I almost fell directly onto the hardwood but I felt like that would hurt, so instead I looked over at the couch with our fluffy pillows.
"This is nice." Zayn said when we stumbled to the couch with our hands tangled together.
"I'm not sure if you mean us or the fact that Niall isn't trying to put gum in your hair, but either way yes." I snorted, hearing Zayn's low whine at the thought.
"He's a bloody pest. Looks so innocent. Actually part demon." His voice was flat and highly unamused, which only caused my own amusement to flare.
"He isn't that bad. He's adorable, isn't he though?" I teased, watching as Zayn's head rolled towards me with a dull expression.
"I may divorce you for that." I could only laugh.
"You wouldn't. You love me." I made sure to draw out the words, singing them a little as I winked at him.
"Oh whatever." As he chuckled, he stood up and grabbed our bags off the floor. I picked the remote up off of the table and flicked the telly on, flipping through the channels until I heard my name being said.
I smirked slowly, listening as the news caster talked all about Zayn and I's new marriage. It was almost funny, honestly, knowing that most of the world was focused on the two of us right at this moment. I knew that it wouldn't let up anytime soon and that paps were going to be swarming us tons for the next few days until we both left again.
That thought made my stomach sink the slightest bit. I switched the channel again, expecting to hear something that wasn't mine or Zayn's name. It was a stupid thing to expect and I don't know why I did that, because the first word I heard was marriage.
As a nice change of events, they were talking about how we were entirely for publicity and that we'd have a marriage that only lasted seventy days or something. The woman made some joke about a Kardashian before I paused it, causing my eyes to roll as I waited for Zayn.
I got impatient as Bruce finally ran into the room and hopped on my lap, licking all over my face as I scrunched my nose up and whined at him. "B, no, get off. Stop it! Your breath does not smell minty fresh, get. No! Bruce!"
“Babe! You need to hear this. And you also need to get the dog off of me!” I laughed, rewinding the bit about us and waiting for him to walk in the room, Bruce finally settling and curling into my lap. “We’re on every site and channel, basically.”
“Really?” Zayn smiled, looking at the television as I played it again for him. “Well that’s just hilarious. Publicity.”
“Do we really need more of that?” I laughed, shaking my head and then resting it on the back of the couch. He licked his lips and I mimicked him, raising an eyebrow as he rolled his eyes.
“No, we don’t. Can we pretend to be hermits for like a month?” He sighed, sitting next to me and resting his head on my shoulder.
“We can’t. I have to studio tomorrow and you have media work for the new album. Not to mention the fact that next week I’m flying to LA and you’ll be in Bradford. I’m a little jealous.”
“Speaking of Bradford, I was thinking about going home a few days early and tugging you with me so you could meet my mum and sisters.” He pulled his head off my shoulder and looked at me with his wide puppy eyes.
“Zayn… She probably doesn’t like me and-“
"No, please? You’re going to have to soon anyway. She’s probably going to kill me for not telling her and she probably hates me for doing it before even saying that we were dating and you’ll have to meet her at my funeral before she’s sent to prison for murder.” He blabbered, his eyes getting almost comically wide.
I laughed, smiling and trying to not roll my own eyes. “Fine. But if she hates me I’m leaving, alright?”
“She’ll love you.” He smiled, leaning in and kissing my cheek. “Promise. Besides, you won't leave because you love me.”
“Well I really dunno about that. I’m sure she’s heard enough about me from everyone in town and not to mention the media-“
“Malik, shut the hell up. She’s going to love you.” He kissed me, his hand his hand finding its way to the back of my neck. I smiled a little into it, one hand letting go of the dog to come up and tug on his hair a little. He said he hated it but I knew better by now.
“When should we go? I mean the flats all done and we’re still half packed from tour…” I said as soon as he pulled back.
“When would you like to go?”
“I want to just stay here and fuck my husband.”
“There will be plenty of that until we leave.” He laughed, his hand moving from my neck to rest on my waist. “C’mon Bruce, move.”
The dog jumped off my lap and onto the floor, curling up in his little black bed and falling directly back asleep. Zayn tugged me into his lap, turning me so my back was pressed against his chest and his chin was resting on my head. His arms tightened around my waist, his thumbs rubbing little circles into my tummy. I giggled a little, wrapping my arms over his and tilting my head to look up at him.
“How about Thursday then? That gives us a few days.”
“But-“
“She’s going to love you. My dad will too. I know it. So just come with me, yeah?” He asked quietly, kissing my cheek.
“I have an interview that morning.” I groaned, realizing that this really wasn't going to be easy.
“Well I’ll come with you then we’ll head on down. Okay?”
“Fine. Are we staying down there or driving home?” I sighed, my head falling to rest on his shoulder.
“If its okay with you and depending on how it goes, I was thinking we could stay there.”
“Depending-“
“Oh piss off.” Zayn laughed, shoving me a little.
“Whatever Malik.” I snorted, shoving him back and forcing a laugh back down.
"You know what sounds good?" He said after a few minutes of silence.
"Chinese and superhero movies?" I turned to face him a little more, my hands moving off of his as I looked at him hopefully. Chinese and superheroes are classic.
"Well, I was going to say we could go break in the paint but-" I cut him off, my hand covering his mouth as I shook my head slowly.
"If you don't feed me I'll put gum in your hair." I threatened, glaring at him jokingly. He brought his hand up and pushed mine off his mouth, lacing out fingers together as he shook his head.
"You're a mess. The usual?" Zayn pulled his phone out, scrolling through his contacts to find our favourite Chinese place.
"Yeah, the usual." My voice sounded a bit breathless and it made me cringe. I couldn't help it though, not when my gorgeous husband looked so bloody fantastic.
"Alright then. Sounds like a date." He pressed a quick kiss to me before climbing off the couch and going to order.
I sighed happily. It wasn't much, but it was definitely more than enough.
