PROLOUGUE
There was a gray she-cat that came out of the trees, she was where other 3 cats were.
"Hello, Graystar." An orange tom spoke, he was sitting down on the forest floor.
"Hello, Flamestar, Rabbitstar and Moonstar." Graystar meowed, she sat down with the other 3 cats. The 4 cats formed a square, all of them sitting down.
"My Clan's water supply is about to run dry, I have to go and send them a message." Moonstar meowed. She stood up and walked away.
"Well, Flamestar. What about your Clan?" Moonstar asked the orange tom.
"It's going well. Nothing dangerous seems to happen."
"Graystar?"
"My clan.... Runningstar has lost faith in us StarClan." Graystar meowed, she had a sad tone while she spoke.
"Why is that?" The 2 cats meowed in unison, completely shocked.
"A rogue has come to them. Dawn has told the rogue that StarClan didn't bring them to the moon-rise place. The rogue told them that living cats have brought them there, that is when Runningstar has lost faith." Graystar meowed.
"Has the Medicine Cat lost faith too?" Flamestar meowed.
"No, Cloudleaf still has faith in us." Graystar meowed, she stood up.
"I will go speak to Cloudleaf, she's dreaming now, she's in our hunting grounds."
Graystar left to speak to Cloudleaf. She got out of the camp and padded toward the hunting grounds. She was finding Cloudleaf's scent so she can go speak to her.
Graystar picked up a trail and followed it. It lead right to Cloudleaf. Graystar saw the tom stalking a mouse.
"Cloudleaf."
"Graystar! I was hoping to speak to you." Cloudleaf meowed.
"I have heard that Runningstar has lost faith in us." Graystar meowed, she sat down and signaled Cloudleaf to sit down too.
"Yes, she has lost faith in StarClan. What should I do?" The white tom was scared that his Clan wouldn't follow the warrior code anymore.
"I do not know, Cloudleaf, but there will be one, your kin. She will save MarshClan." Graystar meowed, she stood up and walked away, she stopped and glanced back.
"You must not speak of this to anyone."
"Yes, Graystar." Cloudleaf stood up. Graystar had already vanished. Cloudleaf picked up a scent, it was Barkface's.
"Barkface! You heard that?" Cloudleaf called to the brown she-cat.
"I already know since Runningstar has lost faith. After all, I am the former Medicine Cat."
"Why haven't you told me about this?" Cloudleaf asked, he stood up.
" I didn't have the chance to talk to you in your dreams. Crowwing has kept me busy." Barkface sniffed the air.
"You must go, it looks like Toadpaw has a cough."
"Thank you for alerting me." Cloudleaf meowed.
Cloudleaf blinked his eyes open. Barkface was right, Toadpaw had a cough. He though, he heard Toadpaw coughing in the apprentice's den.
Cloudleaf stood up and padded outside the Medicine Cat den. He went in the apprentice's den and he nudged Toadpaw awake.
"Toadpaw, come to my den." Cloudleaf meowed.
Toadpaw stood up and walked with Cloudleaf. They entered the Medicine Cat den and Cloudleaf made a makeshift nest for Toadpaw. Cloudleaf signaled Toadpaw to lay down on the makeshift nest.
Cloudleaf grabbed tansy from the back of the den and dropped it infront of Toadpaw.
"Eat this, then go to rest."
Toadpaw chewed the leaves, Cloudleaf left the den and went to the fresh-kill pile.
He grabbed a mouse, and then he padded over to the nursery. He went inside and spotted his mate, Sandcloud. She was sleeping, she held Cloudleaf's kit. Cloudleaf nudged Sandcloud awake and dropped the mouse infront of her.
"It's morning, you have to eat." Cloudleaf whispered.
