Private detective:
i was reading my favourite book in my office on a boring Monday morning with my coffee on my desk, luke warm, my assistant Mary in her hysterical mood and my two cats lying on my armchair, when i got a call saying there was a strange happening on the beach because i am a private detective it is my instinct to look at a crime that has just occurred . my friend daisy (who works with me on cases) tells me to get down their quick and to bring my protective gear. i don't know why but it must be important!
I
rush to get my jacket and ask Mary to pack my protective clothes in my motor car. i head down to the beach where Daisy is waiting. she tells me that a pedestrian had spotted a strange looking animal on the shore. it looked to be dead but was not.
she tried to get down to take a closer look but when she saw what it really was she called me. i put on my protective gear and walked down to where the animal was. it looked scared, frightened, alone. i kept walking until i could touch it. i have always been gentle with animals.
I tried to usher it away from the jetty so i could get a good look at it. as the small animal stepped in to the light i knew what it was. a baby polar bear! it was so cute and fluffy its claws had not grown so i knew it was safe to go near. i touched its wet nose and it backed away.
i picked it up in my arms and brought it back to daisy she had a blanket in her hand and a bottle of milk. we wrapped it and fed it and it was content. daisy saw a patch of blood on its paw. her guess was that it had been swimming with its mother in the arctic and a fishing boat had come along and killed its mother. she also thought that the fishermen had hooked its paw by mistake and had been pulling the poor little cub all they way back to England, then suddenly realising they let it go and it ended up here.
we took it back to my home to dress the wound and to feed it. Mary was exited she would have someone to look after and a friend to play with when she wasn't working and because her father worked was a wood carver she new exactly how to build a large area that it could sleep and play in, although Daisy and i explained to her that i would set up a bed on the floor and sleep with it for a couple of nights to let it get used to a new home.
Daisy was a part time vet so she gave the cub a checkup from my house she said it was a little girl and she would need a name. i decided to call her Darcie . Daisy said she looked like a tiffany but i was content with Darcie. Daisy helped me find a spare room in my mansion that i could sleep in with Darcie. we found a room under the attic that had dust and spiders.
we decided to get to work and clean up. when we were done it looked like brand new. we set out the bed and at the end put a large spread out bundle of blankets that Darcie could sleep on. as soon as Daisy left for home Darcie and i got ready for bed i tried to get her to calm down and go to sleep but i didn't expect it to be easy.
i was chasing her around like a child that wouldn't go to sleep for HOURS and i thought that i would drop dead if i had to chase her through another room. finally she started to calm down. she was still a little timed to be around humans but i think having Mary, Daisy and i around made it a little less scary.
at first she stayed at the end of the bed on the ground then slowly moved her way up until she was snug and still up against me. when i woke up i had quite a shock THAT THERE WAS A POLAR BEAR LAYING ON MY BED!! when suddenly i remembered the day before. i felt sorry for the darling little thing having to go so many days without her mother or anyone she could trust, and that made me want to look after her and care for her even more because i knew that if i didn't she would die and i would not, could not do that to any animal in the world no matter how big or small. i got up to have breakfast and to call Daisy when the doorbell rings.
