Bus rides. They're long, dull and boring. Yet somehow, the four hour drive becomes a lot less tedious with a good playlist and friends who make the time worthwhile. You're listening to (f/m) and tapping your fingers to the beat on the window pane as light rainfall trickles down. Ah rain; the more relaxing kind of weather. Although, a camping trip in the rain sounds like a lot less fun.
You're not even sure where the hell you're going. All you know is it's in the woods and that's all you cared to pay attention to. You're near the back of the Bus. Beside you sits a pretty girl with dark hair and a pink hat. That's Wendy: she's a good friend of yours and a social justice warrior. She probably has a tumblr blog all about it; not that you'd complain.
In front of you sits Bebe with her boyfriend Clyde. She's a good friend of yours too. Maybe even your best friend. You certainly tell her a lot more than you do anyone else although you think that's mostly because of her strong will to pry information from you. She even knows about your minor attraction towards a certain navy chullo hat wearing boy, sat two rows in front of you. He's next to Token.
Of course, she's not the only one, as when one person knows something about someone in your school, it soon spreads like wildfire. Frankly you're just glad Eric Cartman doesn't know about it. Wendy knows, obviously, because you told her yourself. It wouldn't be fair to leave her out. Also, she probably slipped the gossip to Stan somewhere down the lines. They are together after all...
Other than that, you simply try and zone out of uninvited thoughts of pure humiliation in your imaginary fantasy of uncovered embarrassment. (f/m) is gracing your ear drums with sweet melody so you make damn sure to focus all attention on the sound... and maybe some wondering glances between the gaps next to the window of dark hair and pale freckled cheeks slumped lazily on a blue sleeved arm. Through your limited vision you can see earphones tucked safely in his ears as he gazes out of the window, blue eyes intense as ever.
The shuffling of hands as Wendy fiddles with your hair distracts you from your concentrated stare. You move your head slightly to see her holding up the color to her own dark hair, comparing the contrast. She's unaware of your notice and she begins to casually braid the ends. You have been leaning against the window for a while; she must figure that you're asleep.
"Hey," A small voice pears from the gap between the seats. It's Bebe in front of you. You can just about see her hand clutched in Clyde's securely.
You lift your head fully and Wendy takes a glance towards you, instinctively dropping your hair, before turning her attention to Stan and Kyle sat across on the other side of the Bus. Kyle looks to be asleep and Stan has no intention of waking him so he keeps his voice low when speaking.
"What is it?" You give her a long awaited reply, pulling out an earphone. She looks to you and then turns her head in front of her in signal. You sigh, already pinpointing what she had in mind. "It won't work... You already know that,"
"Maybe," She states and shrugs giving you a whole-hearted smile, "But I have a plan," She leans further over and gestures you lean forward to listen. "The woods are a great place for private conversations," She winks and you roll your eyes slightly but smile gratefully. You appreciate the fact that she cares so much.
"If you say so," You reply before glancing over at the now sleeping Craig, "Lead the way Steve," She giggles at the old nickname, and your smile grows more genuine as you both mimic a handshake you made up together years ago. After the nostalgic moment passes, she gives you one final smile before glancing to Clyde who obliviously zoned out of the whole conversation. You watch them as she pulls his hand closer and nestles into the warmth of his shoulder.
It's quite a cute sight. In all honestly, you thought their relationship was rather materialistic when they first started dating. She seemed to be more focused on shoes and gifts and anniversaries, like the relationship was more for show, more about what other people thought than either of them. Yet as it grew from a simple fling to a long-term thing, you realized there was something real beneath all of that front; kinda like when you first met Craig.
