 Prologue

 ~Raimundo~

My brand new, polished business shoes clipped against the wooden floorboards as I hurried on down the corridor. I had to find her, but where would she be? I came out of work for her, to sort out this problem that she had. I would do anything for her, I didn't care that I was in the middle of a potential meeting with one of the richest men in Spain.

When Señor Ezra, the dance teacher, rang me to tell me what happened, I practically ran out of the office. I must have looked like a right old fool, leaving one of the most important decisions for the business, to come here. But it didn't bother me, she needed me right now!

Following what Ezra said, she went down here to the end, and knowing her, I knew she was still here. At the end of the corridor, I came up to two cream coloured doors with long, gold painted handles swirling out on each door. I opened them and looked around.

I smiled to myself and went to the first single wooden door. As I came to the door, I breathed out deeply, here I go! I opened it and stepped inside closing the door softly behind. I was in, what looked like a storage room, filled with colourful costumes and props.

Moving around swiftly, I dodged the boxes and clothes racks, making my way to the back of the room.

I stopped. I could hear a shuffling sound then a muffled sob followed after. My heart ached hearing that sound, but I couldn't over react. I breathed out again and listened. It was coming behind a few brown boxes, in front of a black and red table.

I decided to go round and got down on my knees, I smiled to myself at the position I was in. I crawled underneath the table and came next to her. She was hiding her face with her knees and her black hair was sprawled out in front of her face.

Her small fingers gripped her blue and gold dress tightly while her body shook from her hiccups and sobs. I scratched my chin, I really didn't know what to do, I didn't know how to go about this, however here I was! I decided to start off with clearing my throat.

At the sudden sound, her head jolted up and I was staring down at her big brown eyes. Tears and snot streamed down her face before she quickly wiped her face with her sleeve. She then crossed her legs and fiddled with her thumbs, veiling her face with her hair.

I cleared my throat again, "Well, today can you believe what happened?" I say in pretence shock. I look at her, but she doesn't move.

I continued, "Well I saw a big, white horse." This time she glanced my way before returning her gaze back to her thumbs. "And I thought what is a horse doing here, in this very busy city?" I noticed she was looking at me this time so I kept going, "So I went up to it and saw a really big, fat man holding the reins of this huge horse."

I looked into her eyes and saw the curiosity spark within them. "And?" she whispered quietly.

I smiled warmly at her, "And so I asked him why is he there with this magnificent horse, he told me that he was selling it as he could not afford to look after it anymore."

She edged closer, eager to find out what I did.

"So that was when I thought, my sweet, little Roxanne would love to have a horse" she smiled at me and I could feel my heart melting.
