Chapter 5 - Beggin' You For Mercy

Danny's point of view

"Jessie, are you ready?" I scream 

We wanna go to Glen's, but Jessie's still in the bathroom. I start wondering what she's doing there. I put Flynn on the couch and go upstairs. 

"Jess? Are you alright?" I ask, knocking softly 

"Yea... Yea.. I'm fine" she says hesitantly

I slowly open the door and walk inside. Jessie's sitting on the edge of the bath. She's still in her pajamas. I crouch beside her. I place my hand in hers.

"What's wrong, babe?" I ask softly

She's silent. I look her in the eye. 

"Why are you not ready yet?" I ask  "Jess, talk to me, please"

"Danny, I can't go there" she says quietly

"Why? What happened?"

"I can't..."

"Jess, why?" I interrupt her in the middle of a sentence

"Danny, I have... scars and I-I-I just don't want them to see my scars" 

I squeeze her hand.

"Jess, you're beautiful! That's only a few little scars! And they're on your stomach, Glen, Mark and Lexie won't see them"

I try to hug her, but she pushes me away. I sit down next to her. 

"You're beautiful" I say

"But..."

"There's no but" 

She smiles at me and I smile back.

"Get dressed" I say and gently kiss her forehead

I come back to the living room. After about 10 minutes Jessie gets out of the bathroom. I pick Flynn up. I put him on his car seat and then I look at Jessie.

"Jess, get in?"

She looks at me. 

"Come on, babe. You have to do this! Stop being afraid.."

"Easy to say. You weren't there! You weren't at that car!" 

I see tears in her eyes. I wrap my arm around her waist.

"Jessie, just listen to me. You have to trust me, I am a great driver. That's only 20 minutes. Put your seat belt on, close your eyes and relax"

She does so and I'm really proud of her. She squeezes her hands. When we get to Glen's she smiles at me.

"We did it! God..." she says

I kiss her cheek. I take Flynn of his car seat at the same time Mark opens the door.

"Hi! Mark?" Jessie asks surprised

"Yep. Good to see ya. Glen's gonna be here for a few minutes" Mark smiles and let us inside

We walk inside. I remove my jacket and place it on the banister. Lexie smiles at us. She takes Flynn from me.

"Hi guys!" she says

Lexie kisses Jessie's cheek.

"Come in. Coffee?" Mark asks

We nod, signalling yes. We sit at the living room. We start to talk.

"Where's Glen?" I ask

"Don't know. He told me that he had to do something" Mark answers

Then we hear the door slam. Glen walks inside. We look at him and we notice that he's got a black eye. I smile stupidly at him. Lexie stand up and walks towards him. She gently touches his cheek.
