NEW Chapter 10: It's All A Lie

Penelope smiled at her sister's sleeping form. She had her right where she wanted.

You see, Penelope was still evil. She didn't want to be the cliché, where she came back to the good side and realised all her wrongdoings, yada yada yada.

Of course, these feelings could also be attributed to the fact that The Evil had found her once more, and now she was one hundred percent Evil. But she needed to know the wards, to break the next one. She would scan every book in the house, and then break the first ward she discovered. If she couldn't find one, she'd just assassinate Mel, although she didn't want to resort to that.

First, she'd start with the lounge room.

She tiptoed downstairs and found the bookshelf. Her finger ran over the spine of every book, but they were all regular, mortal books.

Her next stop was the library. Carefully she crept in. Using her Gift of Darkness, she could see perfectly well.

"Guide me," she whispered to The Evil.

In answer, a thick tome on the other side of the library began to glow. Penelope hurried over and tugged it out.

THE HISTORY OF THE WARDS OF ALL WEAK POINTS

Penelope grinned and heaved over the hard, heavy, weathered leather cover and carefully leafed to the index, where she found Queenstown, Tasmania, was on page 1290 of 2001. Penelope was slightly awestruck by the size of the tome, but shook the feeling off and found the page.

Four names were listed under the headings North, East, South and West. Underneath East was the name Mellpell Anazandria, of course, but Penelope wasn't interested in that. She was too intrigued by the others.

West - Grave 104, Queenstown Cemetery.

North - A single water lily on Lake Scanda, floating in the middle.

South - ???

Penelope stared at the south ward, the three question marks. It had her baffled, but she wasn't fazed. She decided to take out the West Ward, the water lily, as she could get her sister to get it, then kill the flower.

She packed the book away and crept back to bed, a plan already formulating in her mind.

He struggled against the ropes he was tied up in, but couldn't manage to break them. He bit at the rag acting as a gag in his mouth, but not a sound was heard from Daniel as he watched his girlfriend's sister take on his form and prepare to go to Lake Scanda with her, to presumably break a ward.

Penelope smiled Daniel's smile as her sister took the bait, not knowing that the person holding her hand was not her boyfriend. In reality, she was unknowingly letting The Evil back into the town.

After about two hours on a romantic date with a lot of kissing, the pair went for a swim in the Lake. Persephone brought 'Daniel' out to the middle of the lake, where he plucked a single water lily and handed it to her.

She smiled and took the flower.

Meanwhile, a group of white-eyed mortals were gathering at the water's edge.
