P
raise be to Allah the Eternally Benevolent and Munificent, who has opened for
us a path to know Him, by endowing us with the ability to think and be

spiritually aware (tahassus) of Him.
Boundless peace and blessings be upon the sultan of prophets, Muhammad Mustafa
(S.A.W), the mercy of all the worlds and the source of blessing, the noblest of the
two worlds, the prophet of Man and Jinn, the Imam of the Holy precinct, the light of
being and mercy of the universe. May the peace of Almighty Allah also be upon his
household, his companions and all those who follow the right path.
Most people may wonder why there should be need for a book to be written about
Maulid Nabiyy at all, because they consider the subject irrelevant, unwarranted and
even un-Islamic to some extent. Their views are based on the insinuations that
Maulid Nabiyy is alien to Islam and it was never practiced by the Prophet (S.A.W).
This issue has been a subject of debate among scholars for a while. Some see
nothing wrong in (i.e. Maulid Nabiyy) while some others are completely opposed to
it. This literature is not an attempt to foist my personal opinion on anyone. It is
essentially a contribution to the discussion, drawing substantially from the attributes
of the Holy Prophet. I am convinced that the book will serve as a further illumination
of the essence of the Holy Prophet and the role he played in narrowing the gap
between Almighty Allah and mankind. This should help the reader form an
enlightened opinion on the concept of Maulid Nabiyy and if indeed it is “Sunatic” to
observe it.
It is often said that a writer should be neutral and unbiased, and even detached from
the object of his writing. This means that he should write without interjecting into his
work personal thoughts and feelings regarding the person he is writing about. He
should simply give an account of the story and thus allow readers to draw their own
conclusions about the story.
And yet in this case, I cannot be neutral as I write about the one human being who is
nearest and dearest to my heart: Muhammad Mustapha(S.A.W). After all he was not
just any man; he was the greatest of humans.
