Chapter 1 - The Origin

So, you think you know how it all came together; how all the gods came together to create the world? Think again. What you know, is only what they tell you in school; what they want you to know. The truth is much deeper, and darker then you realize. Who am I? Some people call me crazy, a fool, an old guy who talks too much... Who I am is not important. The story I have to tell is. So without any further questions about my unimportant background, I will begin my story, the truth of how it all started.

Long ago, before our planet was made, there was nothing. No not "nothing" nothing, just nothing to talk about. A group of gods came together to form a council. Yes that's right, the very same we know of and worship today. Tridine, the God of the ocean. Sialia, the Goddess of Life, Ifrit, the god of earth, Arine, the Goddess of wind, Kirine, The Goddess of lightning, and finally, Valfor, the God of fire. Each god had one element to control. This was so to make sure that no one God would be worshiped above the others.

The Gods came together to form our planet, and populated it with an abundance of creatures, including us. Now the gods didn't just make whole cities at once, no, that was our doing. The gods only made one human in their image, or better if they so desired. These humans were the first to populate the world. It was also these same or humans that founded the major capitals of the world today, many centuries later of course. How is that possible? You see, back then there was no such thing as death. Humans lived forever. I know you're going to ask, but if that's true, then couldn't the world be over populated very easily? Yes, it could. The gods realized this and made sure the population never exceeded the given limit.

Valfor, however, did not like that idea. He thought that the humans should not live as long as the gods, for if they did, they will eventually no longer need the gods. So Valfor created Death, and at the same time, he created Destruction. Very shortly after, the humans came into a quarrel over coveted land that each city wanted. Now usually arguments like this were always solved peacefully. This time however, Valfor encouraged a war. There has been war before in the world, so it was not like they didn't know how to fight. However, because there was no death, it was more like a sparring match, each side waiting until the other could no longer fight. This time, it was different. People lost their lives. Families lost their loved ones. Children lost their parents. Nobility lost their kings. All of this happened within hours before anyone realized what was happening.

The other Gods, of course, where the first to notice. They immediately seized the fighting. They immediately started accusing each other of creating this horrible abomination, but they soon realized that only one was smiling. Laughing even. Valfor. They then realized that he had broken the oath to never have more than one element. Not only did he brake it, he shattered it. He was now in charge of three elements. The Gods knew what had to be done. They banished Valfor from the counsel and put him in a completely different dimension. They then soon after, had to erase all existence of him ever being a part of the human culture. The only way they could do that of course, was to make an example of his current followers. Anyone who was found worshiping Valfor, was to be put to death.

Valfor knew this would happen. Before he even made his now infamous new elements, he went to his most loyal subjects. He told them what was to become of the world and what would happen to him. He then showed them a new place to call home. The followers then set out to that location and made a secluded village. Once Valfor had seen that they followed his orders, he then appeared again, telling them how to worship him without the other gods knowing. He also showed them a ritual that they were to perform as soon as they heard that he was banished. This very ritual, is what we know now today as The Forbidden Ritual.

Yes I know, this is all a myth. Many people have tried to perform the ritual, only to find that nothing would happen and that they would just be standing around in a dark room looking like idiots. Even the mythical events that unfolded because of performing the act seemed like nothing more than a fairy tale. Well, that is because the ritual is only supposed to be performed once. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

The fact is, the ritual did indeed happen, and what you heard that happened after the ritual concluded, did indeed happen as well.

On the night that it was declared that worship of Valfor was punishable by death, the villagers preceded to perform the ritual as told. A child was born that very day, as was also promised by Valfor. The villagers then took that child to the meeting house were an altar was set up, waiting for this day. The altar was made of solid marble. Around the altar where braziers lit by fire. On the floor surrounding the altar where symbols of Fire, Death, and Destruction. All of which were aligned to form a five point star, which was encircled by the braziers. The villagers bore hooded robes with the same symbols outlining the edges.

They placed the newborn child on the altar, lit the braziers, then they themselves encircled the altar. They then began the chant that was taught to them by Valfor himself. It was then that the world around them began to shake. Some braziers were knocked over and a fire started, but it never went inside the circle. The villagers were not fazed by this and continued with the chant. By then the other gods had noticed what was going on and were determined to put an end to it before the ritual was finished.

The Gods then threw everything they could at the village to try and stop it. Nothing seemed to work. It was then that Ifrit suggested they call forth the heavens. The others agreed and soon a meteor, the size of the village itself, aimed itself straight at the villages meeting house. But by the time the meteor struck the building, it was already too late. At that very moment, the villagers completed the chant, and so the circle was broken. Fire had already begun creeping towards the altar. All but one person died when the meteor landed, the child.

You see, because the villagers completed the ritual, the child was already accepted by Valfor when the meteor landed. Right at the moment of impact, a barrier was formed around the child. This barrier protected the child from any harm that would have been done. It was then that the child disappeared. He was transported to the realm of Valfor. This child was to become Valfor's tool for revenge against the gods. It was this child who was destined to become: The Prince of Death and Destruction.
