It Gets Better..

I wake up the next morning with his arms around me. My mind starts racing at what could have happened before I realize his clothes are still on. I let out a sigh of relief and get up slowly, avoiding waking him up. I walk downstairs into the kitchen, sitting on the stool at the counter in front of where my dad is cooking some homemade breakfast.

"Your mom signed the divorce papers and moved all of her shit out last night. The stud came from up north to get her and move up there. All the shit I bought her is here though.. Looks like she's starting a new life" Dad chuckles and flips eggs over.

"Thank god she's gone?" I look at him with a questioning look on my face while he looks back at me with a smile.

"Yeah, thank god she's gone" He grins "Now we can party every Friday"

I laugh "No shit eh? We can listen to our Rock'n'Roll, smoke pot and drink with people we want to! You can even bring her around now" I say, referring to dad's secret girlfriend he's had for a couple months.

"Yeah.. As far as I know, your mother isn't coming home for awhile.. She said she'd be back to get more stuff later in the year but I highly doubt she'll be back.. Unless her stud moves on" He shrugs and stretches he arms. I hear a thud as Ryder slips on the last carpeted stair and somehow manages to land on his feet "Good morning sleeping beauty" My dad chuckles "I assumed you passed out on Jay again and that's why your truck was still here when I went to get eggs, I hope you don't mind that I borrowed it to see how she's doing"

"Yeah, I don't mind" Ryder looks at my dad "Notice anything about her that I should concerned about?" He asks, see my dad is one of the best mechanics in this town and he looks after all of the older vehicles.

"She's rattling a little in the back but it's probably just your tire needing some air" Dad shrugs "Want some breakfast?"
