I sighed. This is the end, isn't it? I mean it's not fun living at the end of the world. Barely anyone was left, it was quiet, it wasn't anything like the movies at all. There was no action and thrill, just sadness and loneliness. I decided that I was going to write down another journal entry.
September 23, 2030... 7:00 pm
School would have already started if the zombie apocalypse didn't come. It still doesn't seem real. it seems like a joke. Zombies, around the city, it sounds hilarious. It's nearing dark now and I don't know whether this may or may not be my last entry... Who knows?
Good luck, if someone finds this...

Depressing.
I started keeping a journal since my family...
My parents were going on a date or something and they never came back... I pull up my phone and read the last text my mother and father sent me.
Dad: Stay inside:) Love you!
Mom: You're okay, don't look for us... you're smart I love you very much
I wasn't an idiot to not know that something bad happened. When they didn't come home the next day it was obvious that they were zombies... my stomach hurt.
They did leave enough food in my house, though. I mean with the food in our fridge, I could last... one more week? Not that it would matter. But then I had Jake.
Jake, my friend for years, his parents and my parents went on a double date.. so no explanation there. I loved him to death. I need to call him soon...
I open the window to get some fresh air... It's stuffy.
You sure that's a good idea?
It's not like a zombie is going to climb into the house.
I took a breath and closed my eyes. Peace is what I needed, when the world is ending, I feel as if that's what you need.
Noises echoed through the street, pain, confusion, a need for brains. I laugh, as the days go on, I start to care less and less about what happens to me.
Ring ring ring
Jake, definitely. I feel as if we're the last ones left. We used to go to each others's houses. Out of fear, we stopped and chose to FaceTime instead. I answer.
"Hello" I saw Jake's blonde hair and blue eyes through the screen. He was sad.
"Hey." I smiled softly at him.
Jake looks as if he wants to say something but it's not coming out. I decide to talk first.
"You okay?"
"Same old, same old." I laughed, it was anything but the same.
"Kinda depressing isn't it." Jake only nods in agreement.
I stare out the window, it's red, the sun is setting. I'd usually think it was pretty or relaxing, but now it makes me want to cry. Zombies come after dark.
I remember that all too well.
"So, what would you be doing right now if this hell wasn't happening?" I asked Jake.
"School, homework, eat, football, repeat." I nodded in agreement. Jake's daily grind.
"And you?"
"Same. School, piano, basketball. repeat."
I'm feeling relatively calm. Like I'm outside this world looking in. Maybe my current position is giving me a new perspective of things.
