I got breakfast, and started training with Blade Cat. Many of the people there were becoming too old to train, but luckily they already had much knowledge in fighting, and so they just changed their previous knowledge to fit their new bill. The rest of them were pretty young, some not much older than twelve years, but that just makes them easier to train. I, myself, am almost twenty years old.

Most of them were eager to learn, but they were also full of energy, so I had an idea. Work them out, get them tired, then teach them what you want them to learn. then they might be more attentive, or at least sit still.

Fortunately, my plan worked. Giving the prematures a brief workout before training heightened their learning ability. Amazingly, they emerged from workouts with enough energy to concentrate but little enough energy that they could sit still.

Each of the leaders were portioned out a certain number of each power, fifty seven heroes each, and eleven to fifteen for each power. I got sixty four instead of fifty seven, something about how things didn't divide up equally. I was surprised to find Jake in my squadron.

Most of mine, Firefairy's, and Vortex's could fly, be it by their power or by jet packs. Lots of mine had super strength, but Firefairy's had a lot of super speed. Both Blade Cat's and Scorpio's had a lot of strength and enhanced reaction time. Stone-Man's had a lot of invincibility and strength. Tornado's had a lot of speed and flight. Berserk-Beast's and Gamma-Bot's had a homogeneous mixture of hero types. Blade Cat's has a lot of stealth heroes in it. Scorpio's has a lot of animalistics mixed with something else, too. Gamma Bot's has lots of mechanical enhancements, including flight-enabling suits.

I call my squadron, "The Flying Spartans." Each squadron got a badge for our squadron's emblem. Mine was a Spartan riding a Pegasus. Firefairy's name was "Sky Devils," and they had a devil with bat wings. Vortex calls his "Chimaeras," and had the mythical beast as an emblem. Blade cat's was "Super Ninjas," and had a ninja on fire.

Scorpio's was "Berserkers," and had a werewolf for an emblem. Stone-Man's was "Bully Boys," having a boxer. Berserk-Beast's was "Super Elves," having the head of an elf for an emblem. Gamma-Bot called his, "Techno Beasts," and had a half wolf/half robot for an emblem. Tornado's was "Eagle Bombers," and had an eagle holding a nuke in it's talons for an emblem.

I looked at the horizon from the surface. The sun burned red at the edge of the earth. It looked like the clouds were catching fire from the heat. And indeed it was hot. The humidity soaked my hair almost immediately. I saw fires in the distance, and I smelled electricity. They were close.

A warm hand touched my wing's shoulder. It snuck up my neck, up to my cheek. I said, "Jamie?" She answered, "Yes?" I asked, "What do you make of those fires?" I pointed, and she walked out in front of me. She looked at the lights in the distance. "I don't know. It could be for welding, or it could be for cooking. Really, it could be anything." I nodded. I called to David. I said to him, "Can you check on that fire for me? As a favor?" He said, "I was thinking of doin' that anyway." He flashed a smile, and disappeared. I heard his footsteps running towards the hill. Stephen ran up to me and said, "Have you seen Vortex?" I smiled and said, "No."

Dave appeared behind me, and I jumped. I said, "It's amazing that you can also stop your own sound and smell from escaping you, not just light." He laughed, then said, "Our fears have been proven. The smoke is from a forge for robot parts. And there are two men over seeing the entire operation. Guess who they are." I didn't have to say anything. I just sighed and sat on the ground, my head on my knees.

I went back to my training, and, a few days later, I was beginning to train my squadron in aerial combat with, and without, a weapon. I was so worn out, and I noticed the fatigue of my warriors. I called a break-day. I took a long walk on the surface.
