By the time night fell, I was already changed and ready to go. Every night, I wonder around the city, jumping from roof to roof, exploring every detail of it. Every now and then, I would look for anyone suspicious or someone with the symbol from the paper. Patrols would flash their light at me, but weren't able to catch me. People would come out of their house to see what's making the thump noise from their roof only to see me flash by then be gone. I stopped on one roof and looked down. I took out the symbol from my pocket and matched it up with someone from below. Sure enough, it was a match. I slowly crept down to right behind them. They never even noticed me. I reached out and put my hand over their mouth to muffle their yells. One of them slowly fainted while the other tried to resist.
I whispered to both of them, "If you're going to start something, finish it. Like you did to my town" and snapped their neck. A slow, neat kill. Nice. I checked my watch and it read 11:53 pm. I started to hop from roof to roof back home then showered. Since I was being the idiot I was, I slid on my parent's ring on my right index finger. It glowed and flashed 3 neon green waves. I tried to take it off, but it was stuck on my finger. There was one final flash then the ring turned back to it's green diamond figure. I looked in the mirror to see if anything has changed, and oh boy, there was a large change. My left eye was a bright green while the right was still dark brown. There were scale like marks on the right side of my face that I didn't know how to get rid ofFor some reason, even my CLOTHES changed. I decided to sleep it off, thinking it was all just a dream.
When the sun peeked through the curtains, awakening me from my slumber, I sat up straight and stretched. Remembering about the sudden changes about my body, I ran to the mirror and checked my face and clothes. It looked all normal, but the ring was still stuck on my finger.
I heard banging on the front door when I realized that school was about to start in 30 mins. I did my daily morning routine, slid on a jacket, then grabbed my bag.
"Took you long enough" Zaira said with a laugh
"Yeah! What time did you even sleep last night" Asil said
"I dont even know" I rubbed my eyes then yawned. We started to walk to school then I felt a tap on my shoulder. "Hey, why don't you take off that hood just for today? Pleaseee" Zaira begged. I stopped, and so did Asil and Zaira. "What's the holdup?" He asked. Zaira waved her hand at him, signaling Asil that he can go ahead. He started walking then she turned straight at me
"Pleaseee. At least through half the day!" She continued begging. I couldn't take anymore of it so I took off the whole jacket and tossed it in my bag. She smiled at me then continued walking.
