The stars twinkled as the watched the island sleep, not able to tell the inhabitants that danger was near. The sea breeze drifted across Island to the Burrow. The island didn't know its beaches that shone like diamonds. That held adventure, battles and more now held a new danger.
The silence was shattered by the howls of unfamiliar beings on the island. A few stirred feeling the unease, hearing the odd footprints of the dangerous pack running near their home. It came again as the unknown animals ran. The creatures searching, looking. These things weren't supposed to be here. The sleek coats, the sharp claws. Danger was just breathing out of them. A malicious glint in their eyes.
The Island stirred. A few felt the unease of their home. A body woke up at the Burrow. A smallish girl awoke. Her heart pounding. She sat up and listened. The breeze, nothing out of the ordinary. She layed back down and closed her eyes. Then came the howl again. She stiffened. The girl slowly sat up again, she didn't want to wake up the boy next to her. She glanced down at him, looking at his features so close to her own, before slipping her feet over the edge of the bed. She stood up and wrapped the fur blanket around her. She started walking towards the stairs. The window casting a slight blue glow to her platinum hair. Her bare feet making little noise of the floor.
The howls came again, she continued to walk towards the stairs. Hurrying her pase. The girl's curiosity getting the best of her. She passed the room where the leader of this band of Teenager's was sleeping. His body not stirring. The girl glanced at his room for a moment before passing it to get to the stairs. The howls were getting closer and her pace quickened. She reached the top of the stairs. Her blanket still wrapped tightly around her.
The night air nipped at the girl as she stood outside her home. The woods were her friend, her ears trained on any sound. She knew something was off. She didn't know what the howl came from. She looked around, taking a few steps away from the safety of her home. The grass beneath her feet made small noises as she walked forward.
Kara heard a noise to her left and her head whipped to face the sound. She felt the shift in the breeze as she heard sounds all around her. The blonde girl turned as she realized her home was surrounded. Her hand flew to her belt where she kept her weapon. Kara cursed silently at herself when nothing was at her waist. She was still in her sleeping garments. She scanned the dark forest which was always full of adventure and knowledge was suddenly scary and looming. Kara started backing up.
A growl, made her freeze and turn her head. A pair of golden eyes appeared in between blacken trees. The moonlight illuminated the paws of the massive beasts as the golden eyes came closer. Kara felt fear creep into her heart. She wondered if she screamed would the others wake up. She prayed that someone would wake up and notice her gone.
Below in the burrow, Kaleb woke up. He felt for his twin. She was gone, then he heard the Growl. He quickly got out of bed. Grabbing his weapon. He knew something was wrong. He had to get everyone up, now.
Kara stared at the black monster. She had never seen anything like it before. If she wasn't about to die she would love to study it. Her eyes scanning the beast. Its black hide shining in the moonlight. It looks like a panther and a wolf had a baby. A big baby that was about to kill her. Its claws her the size of her dagger she left next to her bed. The beast had powerful muscles, Kara could tell that just by looking at it. Its golden eyes twinkling as if it knew the fear slowly consuming you, and it was enjoying every moment.
"Kaleb!" She called into the night. The blonde girl called for her twin. What sounded like a laugh came from the beast. She wouldn't let it see her scream or cry. She had been through worse. She glared at the beast. Kara Rheuby Nadine would face this. She wouldn't give it the satisfaction of letting it see her scared. Kara squared her shoulders to the threat.
