Screaming. That's all you ever really hear at the premier of any new horror movie. It's all I could hear now as my friend cowered in fear from the big screen, his hands clutching my shirt and face pressed against my shoulder, eyes tightly shut.

Ryan had never been good at handling anything scary. In fact, that's the entire reason I brought him here in the first place. I was just doing what any other best friend would do, which is putting the other through hell just for a laugh... as long as they don't stay mad, that is. Other than that, if your pissed at me, why don't you just suck it up and enjoy yourself anyways?

Although, seeing that Ryan was already covering his face and the movie had just begun, I decided I would leave if he got too scared. I mean, I can always just buy the DVD when it comes out, so it's not really worth his mad at me in the first place.

"Hey Ryan, we can leave whenever you want to... I'm sure no one would mind the absents of your screa-"

I had almost finished my sentence before he grabbed my hand and tugged, pulling me out of my seat and soon out of the theater. Normally he would have at least stopped to give me a 'shut-up' look for making fun of him, but he might not have heard me over the noise of the chainsaw the killer had been using to scare his victims.

Once out of the building he stopped pulling me, but he didn't drop my hand. He looked up and smiled at me, his cobalt blue eyes shining as I smiled back. We just stood there for a moment and looked at each other, and for a moment I was tempted to ask what he was thinking about.

I watched as the October wind stirred and blew at his hair, giving him a look that I couldn't quite describe but had my stomach doing a small flip. Ryan has always looked good, and all the girls at school constantly reminded him they thought so as well. I sometimes hated how they would barge in on some of our conversations and start flirting with him... I mean, couldn't they see that we were talking?

It occurred to me in that brief moment that maybe I was jealous, but I shook that thought from my mind. He barely paid them any attention anyways, so I didn't have a reason to be.

The wind continued to move around us, not to cold and slightly warm, but still bringing the fresh smell of fallen leaves and the promise of winter. With the cold nipping at my face and any skin not covered by clothing, I let my thoughts wander... I almost didn't hear Ryan when he started speaking to me.

"Come on, Felix..." Ryan's mouth moved, but I couldn't focus on any single movement. A few leaves swirled around our feet, matching the waving of his brunet hair that contrasted with the bright fall colors. "... we should get going, it's going to get dark soon."

I nodded and turned to face the ground. With hand still in his, we started walking down the street and away from the Cinema center. I was lost in my thoughts, but I was pulled back into reality when I tripped over the uneven sidewalk. I flinched as I thought I was falling towards the concrete, but a tugging on my arm stopped me from landing face first on the cold and colorless ground. I'm glad I didn't fall, I'm only sixteen and in my opinion in no need of surgery to reconstruct my face.

With my heart beating slightly faster, I looked up and saw Ryan gripping my hand tightly, a grin on his face. His blue eyes wandered over my body as if searching for something, possibly an injury, even though he knew I wasn't hurt. Still, that didn't stop him from asking. "Are you ok, friend?"
