Life after War

Hi Everyone! This is my first fanfiction and I am still not sure where exactly this may go. I would totally appreciate any ideas you may have or something that you might want to see in this story. I am definitely incorporating romance into this story, but I would like to develop the characters much better throughout. Please leave me your feedback and let me know if you think I should continue this story. Arigatou! :)

It was the year A.C. 205 and the relationship between the Earth Sphere Unified Nations (E.S.U.N.) and the space colonies has finally come to more peaceful terms. This is greatly due to the work of Relena Peacecraft and all of her efforts to create a world of peace for both those in space and Earth. The majority of her life was dedicated to diplomatic meetings with representatives of multiple parties and discussing ways to maintain and strengthen the peace at hand. Now at 25 years of age she was ready to do something different with her life. As hard as it is to leave the political life, she already had someone in mind to take over her place as a representative of peace. She became friends with Dorothy Catalonia, a widely known diplomat at her age that shared her same views. She seemed to be more dedicated and suited for this lifestyle and wanted to present her with the opportunity to continue her work. Relena called her for lunch so that they could speak of her plans. A knock was heard:

"Miss Relena! It's me Dorothy, may I come in?"

"Why of course!" she answered.

The door opened and in came Dorothy with her long blonde hair that reached the middle of her thighs and her piercing ice blue eyes which commanded attention, but also gave off a friendly aura. She was wearing a sheer blue blouse with a black tank top underneath, a long black skirt that reached her ankles with some bright red stiletto heels that gave her outfit a nice pop of style.

" Good Evening Miss Relena it is such an honor to see you again! How have you been? She said cheerfully.

" Hello Dorothy I have been doing as well as I possibly could with such a busy schedule. I feel exhausted and just needed some time to get some fresh air." She stated with a gloomy voice.

Well I must say that I was intrigued by your sudden lunch invitation since you ARE always extremely busy, but nonetheless where would you like to eat at?"

"Hmmm...How about the new place near the heart of the city? I think it's called Evolution and I have heard they serve incredible food there! "

"Ok it's settled then, Evolution it is!" Dorothy said enthusiastically.

Relena rose from her office chair, grabbed her purse and walked through the halls of her workplace towards the elevators. She continued chatting with her friend until they were about to leave through the main entrance doors of the building she worked at, but suddenly a chill traveled down her spine and she stopped dead in her tracks.

Hidden within the crowd were a pair of prussian blue eyes that were staring directly at the Vice Foreign Minister. They disappeared as soon as eye contact was made leaving said Minister with a look of mixed emotions.

"Miss Relena are you ok? You look as though you've seen a ghost.

Relena immediately headed towards the crowd trying to find the source that caused her such distress. She knew in her heart and soul that the only person to shake her in this manner was the one and only "Heero" she whispered to herself.

Relena was unable to find him no matter how much she would search through the sea of people in the middle of downtown Tokyo, but she tried to bring herself back to reality and told herself that it was all an illusion, a fantasy that she has always wanted to come true. For the past five years of her life she has very rarely come into contact with the stoic Gundam pilot. The only times she had a chance to see him was while he was on guard duty for the Preventers and God knows that he takes all of his "missions" so seriously that there was no time for any pleasantries among them.

"Miss Relena! Dorothy yelled after her.

Relena was brought back from her thoughts thanks to Dorothy and didn't know what to say to explain her actions.

" I'm sorry Dorothy. I don't know what came over me just now."

Dorothy eyed her ash blond friend thoroughly and she knew exactly what was troubling her. She was determined to help her overcome "him".

Ever since A.C. 195 Dorothy knew that Relena had developed an undeniable attraction to the legendary Wing Gundam Zero's pilot. He had threatened the life of her dear friend many times, but this did not change Relena's feelings towards him one bit. In fact many would say that her emotions became more intense as the days, months and years kept passing by. In the end he left her all alone with only a teddy bear to remember him by.

"Was it him?" Dorothy asked.

Relena looked shocked, but then closed her eyes knowing that there was no denying her reaction.

"I believe so... Although I can only ever get a glimpse of him...I don't even know if it is really him...I don't know how to explain it Dorothy. I can feel him looking at me. I just wish..." her words catched in her throat, tears threatening to fall down her cheeks.

"I know exactly what you would wish for, but if you don't mind Relena, I would like to give you a bit of advice. Men like Heero Yuy need a dose of their own medicine in order for them to feel what they make us go through."

Relena listened silently at the advice her friend was giving to her and she had to say that she couldn't agree with her more. She was tired of depending on Heero and the protection he offered her from the shadows, tired of not being able to fend for herself. Her heart began to beat rapidly and her mind was thinking of all the things she needed to do to prepare herself for this new journey. It was time for change.

Both Relena and Dorothy continued walking towards Evolution. Relena ordered herself some chamomile tea to try and relax her nerves while Dorothy chose to order a caramel macchiato while they discussed how to put her plans into action.

"I would suggest that you take leave for some time to become stronger, physically and emotionally. During this time you must make sure that you are out of sight and this, I assure you will make him restless. You will then decide when the time is right for both of you to meet once again."

"Alright Dorothy, I have to decided to go through with this, but I will need your help. I need to get the best trainers that you know for different forms of self defense and military training. I want to know him to a deeper extent and what better way than to become just like him...a soldier."

Ok! So this is a short chapter. Not much Heero in it yet, but I will definitely get him in along with the other pilots. Let me know what you guys think! Until next time! :)
