We've all had dreams that come back over and over again, and sometimes they progress, almost like a story. Well, mine wasn't a happy story... rather... it's a small piece of hell.

It had been a long day for me, family vacations and gift exchanges and the general celebration of Christmas. I had returned to my bed around 1-2 in the morning. It took me awhile to go to sleep, I probably had to much soda. But when I finally went to sleep I dreamt my usual nothing, but it felt... off. I felt like I had been sleeping for a lot longer than just what I normally do. I payed no attention to this, because it wasn't a big deal. But upon waking up I realized I wasn't in my bed, or my room. I looked around confused and drozy. I was in a white room, with padding all over. Corner to corner. I looked down to myself and noticed I was wearing what looked like a medical patients outfit. It was all confusing and weird. I went to what appeared to be a door and knocked on the door several times. On the other side I heard a voice say, "ya ya, I'm coming, be patient." The voice was familiar to me... frighteningly familiar. As the door opened, my mother walked in wearing what appeared to be a doctors uniform. "Mother!?" I cried out to her in confusion... to which she denied and explained that she was my doctor and that I was her patient. I asked her where I was and she explained to me that I was at an insane assylum, where I have been sense I was a small child.

Now at this point nightmares would normally end... no... not for me... this went on further.

After a few hours of aparrently my daily routine. I was escorted by a security guard to the mess hall... upon entering I found many different people sitting around a round room with trays of different types of mush and beans. As I looked around and noticed a lot of my friends where in the asylum as either cooks or patients themselves. I saw a glimpse of my best friend walking over to the back side of the cafeteria, away from most of the doors and windows, and also away from everyone else. I tried walking up to him, to ask him what was going on or what kind of sick joke they where trying to play at, but I was stopped by someone grabbing my wrist. "Where are you going? You shouldn't try to pick another fight with him!" The voice of my, now x, girlfriend asked in a concerned and mad tone. I told her what was going on and she just looked at me as of I was more insane than anyone else was. So I brushed her off and walked towards my best friend. As I got close he looked at me and snarled as if a wild animal. I said hi, that was it, and he jumped me, he threw in punches and food and all sorts of things at me. That was when the security guard from earlier came in and dragged me away to what he called an isolation room. Inside was a bed, where I fell asleep confused and scared. But when I woke up, I was in my bed, my room, my mother was in her office looking at some news.

When I first had this dream I had no idea who the security guard was, but last school year I did meet him. At my college. He's a good friend of mine now.

Every once in a while this dream comes back, but it's never the same. It's always another day forward, I soon come to realize that most of the people in the dream are people I've meet in my past... or soon meet later. What's truly terrifying about this dream is that, everyone in the dream that I've told about this problem... has said this, the real world... is the dream... and sometimes, I really don't know if either one is or is not.
