The sky is never blue here, where I live.

Because of the smoke.

Because of the war. We aren't supposed to talk about it. The Council has all but forbidden it.

But the sky is a constant reminder of the conflict outside of our utopia.

-----

I'm still a Young, being that I'm only 15.

But I have this title and fall into this group of society until midnight of my 66th birthday.

On the exact nanosecond the time changes, my name will be transferred to under the category of the Old on the Databases.

But I still have a while before that happens.

-----

My name is Jack.

I'm a girl. Get it straight.

Where I live, there are never two people alive with the same name.

On the Databases, there are two lists; one of Male names, and one for Female names in alphabetical order.

The Physicians go down the list with every birth there is so that everyone is different because of their names.

But that's the only difference there is.

I live in a city of brainwashed fools, and I am the only one who is different.

This is because when I was born, a Physician mistook me for a boy.

They named me Jack before my panting mother could point out the mistake

The other thing that makes me different from every person in this place is that I know the truth.

Only me.

And I would be killed because of that truth.
