Khushi hummed in sheer bliss, her eyes drowsy as she lay cocooned in his embrace. Yet, sleep was the last thing in her mind. She could hear her husband whisper sweet nothings to her ear, his stomach rumbling with laughter as cracked a joke on his newly wedded wife.
Wife.
Looking up, she tugged on to his hand and gazed at their wedding rings with a strange longing. How did it feel to have everything one could ever want? Turning further into his embrace, she cooed softly as he nuzzled the sweet spot on her neck.
Arnav let out another chuckle as his wife turned red enough to shame the tomatoes. In spite of their heady intimacy, how in the world did she manage to get so shy? Like a little touch me not, Khushi shyly turned away each time he tucked a finger under her chin to make her eyes meet his.
"Arnavji..." Khushi pleaded mercy of his passionate gaze as he relented finally. Looking up into his dark, caramel eyes, Khushi sighed softly. A part of her had feared that she would never see this love return in his eyes after their disastrous mishap. Having learnt Khushi's expressions at the back of his hand, Arnav patted his trembling wife as he felt her sob against his chest.
"Khushi... what happened?" Arnav looked down in concern as Khushi wrapped her arms around her neck and sniffed slightly. "I... I never thought you could love me, or that I'll get so much happiness again." Part of Arnav broke as he heard her choked words.
He had been responsible for shattering her sweet dreams.
Pressing his forehead against hers, apologies tumbled out of his mouth as he held her hands against his lips - promising to lay the world at her feet.
Nothing mattered to him, not Shyam, not the fact that Garima was his father's mistress... nothing - except Khushi.
Khushi closed her eyes as he pressed his words to the shell of her ear, promising what she had only imagined. Laying her hand on his thudding heart, Khushi blinked a few times before she snuggled further into him.
"Tell me what more..."
"Shush! I have everything I could ever dream of!"
"Then?" He asked, wiping the corner of her eye.
"That's the very thing I'm scared of."
His handsome face dissolved into the pale orange wall of her bedroom. Khushi blinked a few more times, her eyes bleary as she focused on the little cut out of his picture stuck on Salman's face. Memories of their second wedding sailed in, some emotional... some endearing.
What happened to them?
Did love happen too easy the second time round that it was effortless to lose it?
A painful throb hit her head with vengeance as she got up, another fitful night of sleep had passed by without her husband. Khushi played with the hem of her kurti as she realised how dependent she was on Arnav.
It scared her that he had no clue of it.

The teacup remained carelessly on the floor, the brown stain on the carpet bought no attention as Garima looked in the brown eyes startlingly similar to hers. Her fingers still shook as she looked at her child whom she thought was long dead.
Akash was on his knees, swallowing tightly as he kept his emotions in check and told Garima gently that he would want to get their DNAs tested for a match. Garima nodded a few times in agreement and kept her hands to herself, resisting to take her son in another hug.
