Chapter II

I awaken to a loud knock on my door. "Come in" I say groggily. Accalia walks in informing me that I need to get up. "My alarm hasn't even gone off yet" I whine. "Yes it has, you turned it off!" She says. I dont remember doing that. "Get up" she says and leaves. I get up and get ready for work. I walk downstairs and grab an apple. "Bye Accalia!" I yell and leave. I walk to work like I always do. Once I get there I rush towards my office ready to get this day over with. Don't get me wrong, I love my job. I'm just nervous for tonight. I finish the paperwork that was on my desk fairly quickly. I wait in my office for something to happen. After awhile I get bored and pull out a book from my bookshelf. Accalia came in and stocked it up on a bunch of books that she liked, but I can honestly say I've read them all. I get a few chapters into the book and hear a knock on my door. "Come in" I say setting the book down. "It's almost time for you to leave and start getting ready for tonight." Andrew says skipping formalities. I ignor is disrespectfulness and let him continue talking. "It'll be held at the village square. Be there by 5:30 and don't forget to dress nice." He tells me. I dismiss him with a nod and go back to my book. I check the time to see that I should start heading home. I walk silently to my house and into my room. I shower and shave to look my freshest. I dress in black slacks and a button up dress shirt. I roll the sleeves up to my elbows because it's really hot in here. I grab a matching tie and put it on. Even though I know the tie won't stay on me for the whole night. "Amoux! Are you home?" Accalia yells out. I hear the front door shut. "Up here!" I yell out to her. She stomps up the stairs rather loudly and burst into my room. "Nice" she says after looking at my outfit. "Thanks" I say. "Guess what!?!" She squeals. I flinch at the high pitched noise. "Tony asked me to be his date to the party!'' she says without giving me a chance to reply. "That's great" I tell her. "I know right! I have to go get ready!" She squeals again and runs to her room. I roll my eyes at her childlike behavior.

"Why do I have to be here so early?" I ask Andrew. "Because you are the alpha and birthday boy" he answers. "That still doesn't explain why I'm here" I say. "You are the host so it makes sense to be here first" he says while putting up some decorations. "Oh" I say understanding now. I help him put up decorations. We finish just in time because people started arriving. I make my way to the entrance and greet people. "Glad you could make it Mrs. Walters" I say shaking her hand. "Me too, alpha" she says bowing her head. I continue to greet people. Once all of my pack members are here people from different packs start arriving. I greet each and every one of them. "Hi! Are you the birthday boy?" A little girl says looking up at me. "Why yes I am." I tell her with a smile. "Your really cute" she says. I thank her and smile. She stands beside me and holds my hand. I'm guessing she lost her parents with all these people around. "Where are your parents?" I ask her. "I dont know" she says still holding her hand. I keep greeting people and I guess that her parents will notice her so I keep her with me. "What pack are you from?" I ask her. "I think it's called Bloodstone or something like that." She says. I smile at her to reassure her that it'll be okay. She doesn't seem to be scared at all. "How old are you?" I ask her. "I just turned eight yesterday!" She says excitedly. "Really? I just turned 21 yesterday." I tell her. She gets more excited if that's even possible. "Wow! We are like twins!" She says. I laugh at her silliness. "Wait, I didn't tell you my name!" She says. "What is your name sweet pea?" I ask her. She giggles at the nickname I just gave her. "It's Lily. What's your name?" She asks. "Amoux" I tell her. By now only a few people are coming in. "Cool!" She chirps. "Everyone please gather around" Andrew says into a mic. Everyone looks up at him. "Today we are celebrating the 21st birthday if our alpha, but before we start that we want to make sure that everyone knows we want to have safe fun. Alcohol will be served but we will be checking ID's." Andrew says. I see people nod their heads in agreement with what he is saying. I also see a few teenagers looking disappointed at the news. "Do you see anyone you know?" I ask Lily. She shakes her head no. I look around for people that look worried or look like they are looking for someone. I don't see anyone. "Now introducing our alpha. Alpha Amoux!" Andrew says. I tell Lily to wait at the bottom of the stairs. I walk to the top of the stage and people clap. "Thank you for coming today." I say. They all clap again. I thank all the packs that came today and for all the people that brought gifts. When I finally finish they all clap again. "And before we can finally start the celebrating I would like to know if anyone is missing a little girl." I motion for Lily to come onto stage she does and grabs my hand. "She says she is in the Bloodstone pack." I say again. I see a lot of confused looks in the audience. "I am the alpha if the Bloodstone pack and I do not recognize this girl" a man says standing up from the audience. I give a questioning glance at Lily and she just shrugs her shoulders. "Let's get on with the celebrating" I say. Lily and I walk off stage together. "Sorry sweet pea" I say. "It's okay I don't want to go back anyways." She says with a shrug of her shoulders. I walk around greeting people. A lot of girls and young women throw themselves at me, but I ignore them. Unless I feel the mate bond I will not talk to them. I'm very reserved you could say. Lily has a hold of my hand the whole time.  "Lily! Lily!" I hear a desperate voice call out. Lily turns her head. "Bailey?" She whispers confused. A girl comes running forward hugging Lily. "Bailey!" Lily says. "Oh Lily I was so worried." The girl, Bailey, says. I clear my throat catching their attention. "Alpha" Bailey says bowing her head. "and you are?" I ask. "I'm Bailey, Lily's sister." She says. I look at Lily and see she is holding Bailey's hand. "I asked everyone if they knew who she was and no one said anything. Why?" I ask her. "Well we originally wasn't going to come and Lily snuck off without my permission. So I followed her here. I would've said something, but I just got here a few minutes ago." Bailey explains. "That still doesn't answer why no one recognized her" I say again. "Well we never leave the house. I homeschool Lily and we live far from the pack. We are loners I guess." Bailey says. She seems nervous. "That is very weird, but thank you for coming" I say. "Thank you for keeping Lily safe. I was so worried." Bailey says and smiles down at her sister. "Would you like to join me?" I ask Bailey. "Everyone else has either been really flirty and thrown themselves at me or really uninterested." I explain. "Sure" she answers. We all walk over to a empty table. "Lily and I have already eaten, but would you like something?" I ask Bailey. "Oh no thanks. I'm not very hungry." She says declining my offer. "Very well then." I say and sit down. When I do I smell the most delightful smell ever. Strawberries and coconut. I whip my head around looking for my mate. I finally figured out where the smell is coming from and I see that it is Bailey. 'Mate' My wolf practically screams in my head. Bailey looks up at me and smiles. I try to ignore the need to get up and kiss her on the spot. "How old are you Bailey" I ask her. "20, I'll be 21 in a couple of weeks though" she says. "Do you plan on finding your mate when you do?" I ask her. "I don't really know" she answers. "Can I talk to you? Alone." I say. "Uh... Sure. Lily stay here and don't talk to anyone. And don't move." Bailey tells her. "I can get my Beta to watch over her while we talk if that's okay?" I tell her. "That would be perfect" she says. I see Andrew and motion him over. "Yes?" He asks. "Can you watch over Lily for a few minutes?" I say motioning towards the little girl. "Yeah no problem" he says. 'She is my mate' I mind link Andrew. A look of understanding crosses his faces. He smiles at me. Bailey and I make our way to the garden. "So what did you want to talk about?" She asks after a long silence. I lead her to a bench and we sit down. "What I'm about to tell you is going to be kinda scary and you might not understand it or feel it, but it's true" I say seriously. "What is it?" She whispers nervously. "I'm just going to come right out and say it. You are my mate." I tell her. Her eyes go really wide. "Whaa?" She says confused. "I don't feel any different" she says. "That's just because you are not 21 yet" I tell her. She nods her head still in shock. Suddenly she smiles. "Does this mean I get to move here?" She asks. I nod my head yes. "Sweet!" She says. I laugh at her excitement. "So you are okay with this?" I ask her. "Oh definitely and when I turn 21 I'll be even more sure." She says. I smile at her answer. Of course she felt some kind of pull to me. Everyone does when they meet their mate. Even if they are of age or not, but because she isn't of age she doesn't feel a strong pull like I do. "Do you want to go back and tell Lily?" I ask her. She nods her head. We walk back to where the part is being held. I see Andrew and Lily in the same spot laughing about something. "Hey guys" I say sitting down. Bailey does the same. "Where did you go?" Lily asks. "We just went to go talk. Nothing bad" Bailey tells her. "What did you talk about?" Lily asks. "Well, that's the thing. Me and Alpha Amoux are um mates" Bailey says. I nod my head in agreement. "That's so cool!" Lily says. We laugh at her response. "Congratulations man" Andrew says. "Thanks"

"Should we announce it?" Andrew asks. "Is that okay?" I look over at Bailey. She nods shyly. Andrew runs on stage and gets everyone's attention. "Today we are not only celebrating our Alphas birthday, but now we are also celebrating the first ding of his mate." Andrew says once everyone is paying attention. People cheer. "Introducing Alpha Amoux and his mate" Andrew says. We walk into the stage with Lily waiting at the bottom. "I would like to thank you all again for coming. Soon we will be meeting in a field to all change into our wolves to celebrate the finding of my mate." Propel clap for us. "And to the Moonshine pack please welcome in my mate and your future Luna." I tell my pack. They all clap again. We exit off of the stage. "You okay?" I ask Bailey. "Yeah I'm just stage fright" she says. "I'm sorry baby you didn't have to go up there if you didn't want to." I tell her. She smiles when i called her baby and Lily giggles. "It's okay" she says wrapping her arms around herself. We all go back to the table and converse until it's time to shift.
